    Battery Longevity

Same with me...and I also test my batteries at least a couple times per year, as it only takes a minute or two to pop the hood and attach the clamps. Got 14 years out of the battery in my Tundra. That saved me several replacements.

    Battery Longevity

Depends on the dealership/manufacturer. I've never seen a Toyota dealership using a battery tender in the showroom, but see it often at BMW, Porsche or Ferrari.

    Battery Longevity

My 2018 BMW has the "welcome home" headlight timer, it also has shutters on the grill that open and the electric cooling fan continues to operate for several minutes after shut down to cool the engine (twin turbo V8). Aux coolant pumps run as well to cool the turbos. BMW's solution is to use...

    Battery Longevity

True about cars not liking a weak battery...some cars will start throwing phantom codes and stuff when that happens. But many battery failures can be detected before they leave you stranded. I test the battery on my Tundra at each oil change, which due to driving 100 miles 5 days a week, is...

Walmart (via 3rd party) - various Anlibatt AGM batteries on sale

Weize brand AGM did not do well in Consumer Reports testing a couple years ago. A couple users here bought them last winter...so the jury is still out on them.

    Battery Longevity

+1. Any of my cars or truck that sit for more than a week I leave on a Battery Minder or Pulse Tech battery maintainer. If you use the ring mount adapters they come with, and thread them through the grill of the car, makes for connecting them a simple matter. On one car I had to get more...

Recommend battery tester for group 48 batteries

I'm sure that one is fine, but I would have leaned toward the less expensive Ancel BA101 Plus that does 12vt and 6vt. I've never used either one, but there are a few more reviews of the Ancel and the rating is a bit higher...fwiw. The thermal printer could be useful on the Foxwell, but I just...

Recommend battery tester for group 48 batteries

A reliable battery tester can be your best friend. I have had at least one for over 20 years. By testing a couple times a year, I have caught batteries that were getting weak, but not yet showing signs from simply performing a cold start. And on the flip side, I have got over 14 years out of...

Recommend battery tester for group 48 batteries

Carbon pile tester is the gold standard, but these work decently enough and highly rated by users and the Project Farm guy, if you want to search for his review on testers from a while back on YouTube. Ancel BA 101. https://a.co/d/059uK4xq Simple to use as well. I have purchased at least 8 of...

The effects of 5W30 through small passages

Wish I could remember where I saw them...I have read dozens of forums and media stories about this for the past few years. I believe the ones I saw (and referenced in forums) where both from media and also Toyota employees (who had been to both plants), thus seemed credible. As my first...

The effects of 5W30 through small passages

Not when both manufacturing plants use the exact same process for machining and cleaning the blocks. People who have visited both plants claim that is the case here.

What are shops getting for hourly rates these days?

I have a BMW/Mercedes specialist in Tacoma, WA and is $140 an hour. Not for long I'm sure...he does excellent work too and has all the proper diagnostic tools.

New Vehicle Break-In: 500 mile oil change?

I'm not opposed to anyone doing early oil changes on a new car, more power to them. I've never done early oil changes when new. I have run multiple cars past 200k without issue. I currently daily drive a 390,000 mile BMW that received oil changes by me every 7500 miles since new, using the...

Trunk issues with both of my cars!

Have you searched forums for common issues? On my BMW it is common for the wire loom in the trunk to have wires break from years of flexing, which can cause the trunk to unlock on its own. Takes 12 to 15 years for the first symptoms to appear...both BMW and the aftermarket offer replacement...

Nissan and Toyota are issuing rationing

I did the same, though I used Castrol Edge 0w-20...but only because it was the lowest viscosity I had, and didn't realize until I had it on jack stands it required 0w-16.

Mobil1 ESP Euro 0w30 and BMW E46 or E90 engines

I'm using it in the N63TU2 in my M550ix. But I think edyvw prefers the 0w-30 flavor ESP so I have accumulated a bunch and will be using that in my BMWs once I use up all the Pennzoil Euro L, Castrol Edge Euro and Quaker State Euro.
