Worth replacing valve cover gasket @ 150k?

Before changing the valve gasket, I would run a flushing solvent to clean-up some of that gunk that is in this motor.

    Best type of do-it-all grease

Johnny a salesan demonstrated that test to us about 8 or 9 years ago. In our industry we are looking to protect our equipment against the corrosion in harsh, corrosive enviroments ( salt water and very high acidic water). We presently have very little problem with corrosion or water wash out. We...

    Best type of do-it-all grease

We always used King Oil Weatherproof grease (Calciul Sulfonate) on all of our vehicles and equipment. The moisture resistance of c/s grease can be easily demonstrated. Apply a thin layer of c/s grease to a freshly sanded or ground piece of steel and allow it to remain outdoors in rain for a few...

I would take into consideration the synthetic fluid that has the most friction modifier and the base fluid would have to be a group IV.

    Dealer Valvoline 5W30 - '08 Infiniti G37, 3830mi

I would stay away from dealer oil changes. Buy your oil at walmart and they will change it for you. As you know by now the dealer, oil distributor and the blender focus on price not performance. I'm sorry I fill the oil in bottles is better quality than bulk lubricants.

Possible transmission problem with 93 Aerostar

Ford experienced problems with this transmission in the past. Ford had many warranty issues. I am surprised your transmission lasted this long without an overhall. I would do as Donald suggests( transmission flush and a really good synthetic transmission fluid).

Interior Dome Lights Going Off & On

Have you tried to push down on the starter/relay switch in your fuse box. It might be loose. I had the same problem with my yukon. You might have to replace that particular fuse or a loose fuse caused by vibration from opening and closing the drivers side door.

Mid 90's Sliverado, Tahoe, Suburban owners...

I have a 99 yukon with 200,000 miles runs great. The only gauge that I would question is the amp meter, the other gauges are on the money. At high idle my amp gauge is 15 to 16. After warm-up it will register around 14 to 15.

With the proper additives the Group IV oils should perform as good if not better than the GroupIII products.

Help me save some money...Brakes are shuddering

It could very well be the composition of metals in the pads. The cooler they run the less shutter and as brakes get hot the more shutter you will experience.

Why is it some cars eat syns , then not dino ?

Synthetic based oils that use an ester additive will typically consumes oil for the couple of oil changes. After a brief period of use consumption should level off. This is due to the fact that the ester in the formulation works very tenaciously to be part of the metal also froms a film on all...
