2007 Ford F-350 6.0L Power Stroke Used Oil Analysis (UOA) History

Just under 245k. It is still running extremely well! Original injectors still. I know that will probably change this year or next! That build that Jack did certainly was meticulous wasn't it! Unfortunately, it seems he has rust issues w/ the truck itself. Texas has been very, very good to me!

2007 Ford F-350 6.0L Power Stroke Used Oil Analysis (UOA) History

Nice. Thanks for posting. I wish I could turn back the clock to 116k miles on mine!

I've spent at least 10 years trying to communicate the true shearing rates vs the Internet myths, lol. No doubt the 6.0L does shear oils that have higher percentages of VI additives (HEUI systems will just do that). Definitely some oils shear more quickly than others! As I have posted many...

Change diesel oil based on emission factors?

The list in the link above was last updated in 2018. This one is from 2022: https://www.fcsdchemicalsandlubricants.com/additionalinfo/dieseloilsWSSM2C171F1.pdf

Delo 400 vs Delo 600, vs Delvac 1300

I'll say it again (data driven - 45 UOA of mine, quite a few more from other people) - my UOA on my 6.0L shows that multiple 5W40 oils do not always shear to the 30 wt category in 5000 miles. I have multiple threads in the Diesel UOA section on that (data posted). Even going 7500 miles doesn't...

CK-4 Diesel Oil for old 6.0l PowerStroke?

Believe me ................. I certainly wasn't wanting to open up the same old debates that have happened a thousand times before. I just thought that it sounded like Ford may have recently offered more (new) information! My bad ....

CK-4 Diesel Oil for old 6.0l PowerStroke?

Also - in the linked Tech Talk video - they make the statement that you are not to use the CK4 oil in ANY Ford diesel engine (around the 2:16 time stamp). Of course they say that if a CK4 oil DOES also meet the Ford specification, then it is ok to use. CYA perhaps, but the statement was very...

CK-4 Diesel Oil for old 6.0l PowerStroke?

That link is to the document that has been discussed many times. In it, they are still saying to use a Ford approved oil for the older trucks. "Ford continues to recommend motor oils meeting the Ford specification WSS-M2C171-F1instead of CK-4 motor oils in the 3.2L and 6.7L Ford diesel engines...

Did Ford officially document that anywhere?

Delo 400 vs Delo 600, vs Delvac 1300

I agree. I have been going 7500 miles on oil changes w/ 5W40 oil in my 6.0L for quite a few past oil change intervals. Probably dropping back to a 5000 mile OCI since I only drive around 3000 miles a year in it now. At the 7500 point, the viscosity of my 5W40 oil has just dropped to what a...

Canadian mechanic suggests shorter OCI’s for 6.7 Cummins

I agree, mostly. HEUI PSDs have no problems with 5000 mile OCI's! Some (like mine) do quite well at 7500 mile OCIs.

Canadian mechanic suggests shorter OCI’s for 6.7 Cummins

5W40 is a 40 weight just like 15W40. 15W40 offers no better protection in hot weather than does a quality 5W40. Yes, due to the added VII for the higher viscosity range (5 to 40 vs 15 to 40), it will be somewhat more prone to shearing. In a quality oil over a 5k mile, or even 7.5k mile, OCI...

When did 10w30 HDEO’s come around?

My 6.0L disaster is still going strong at 242k miles. Original injectors. Best truck I have ever owned, but then the known weak points were addressed quickly and properly. Minimal cost to do so when you do it proactively. My only miss on the "proactive slate" was the integral fuel pump relay...

When did 10w30 HDEO’s come around?

As I post on so many forums. So what if the 5W40 shears to a 30 weight? If that is so bad, why do people think starting at a 30 weight is such a good idea, lol. BTW - the 10W30 also shears. The data that the 10W30 fans post up shows that it can get almost to a 20 weight at 7.5k. After 7.5k...

Amsoil Diesel Oil 5W-40 (Signature Series Max-Duty Synthetic)

SAE 40 weight viscosity range is 12.5 to 16.29 for a point of reference. That said, the diesel fuel can introduce contaminants and is potentially detrimental to other (desirable) physical properties of the oil (ie solubility changes can impact detergents and dispersants). Oxidation can increase...

    SN Rating vs Ford Spec

What I still have an issue with is that the Delvac 1 ESP 0W40 is on Ford's approved list and the 5W40 is not.

Why is Mobil Delvac 1 ESP so Expensive

Using the sales and the Mobil rebates would get you the Delvac 1 ESP and the Mobil 1 TDT for the prices I posted. I was not referring to the 1300. As mentioned above, you just have to shop around. AND use rebates!
