    ATF In The H-D Primary

What is interesting is that once SYN3 came out, it was recommended for the Primary/Trans on the sporty (20w-50) yet at least on my 09, they have gone back to recommending Formula+. I was under the impression that Formula+ was a 75w-90 gear lube. With regard to it being heavy, based on the...

    ATF In The H-D Primary

Just to chime in since I am trying to decide what to start using on my 2009 sportster... I would agree that the primary has very basic lubrication needs but the XL's share the fluid between the primary and the trans. I have seen lots of folks that run 75w90 gear oil in the application but I am...

OCI for 4WD Differential and transfer case

IMHO if you are using Severe Gear lube in your axles and AMSOIL's ATF or Severe Gear (not sure t/case spec for the Nissan) you should be fine to look at 50,000 - 100,000 OCIs in those applications assuming you are not fording water or pushing through deep mud.

    Best Small Truck...

I had a 2001 Tacoma for several years. Zero compaints and I zero problems with the only maintenance being fluid/filter changes.

Basic oil plan for new Jeep (asking the experts)

FWIW- While 5w-20 is the prefered fill, 5w-30 is an acceptable viscosity per Chrysler. I am in the market for a JK myself. When I get one I will most likely run AMSOIL ASM 0W-20 for this climate (Maryland). As mentioned above, TSO may be a good choice in Southern California. I run TSO in my 2004...

2008 Ford Crown Victoria Now Fleet Only

FWIW- Much of the LE market in Maryland has gone to Chrysler and the Charger is the new sedan on state contract. Also in Maryland, the Trailblazer has been replaced on state contract with the Durango.

    Amsoil Ea or AEM Dryflow

I will bring this post back to offer the following link to an off-site study (I have no connection with this study on the publisher). I find the results interesting and I would be very interested in hearing comments. The article does not elaborate on specific testing methods. In their tests the...

Why are most synthetic OCIs at 6k miles or less?

I use a vac sampling pump. They are available from AMSOIL as well as several other vendors. Most sample bottles (Blackstone's and OAI's off the top of my head) screw directly to the bottom of the pump. AMSOIL's OAI does quality UOAs. I use Blackstone over them simply because of their...

Havoline Deposit Shield better than the rest?

I currently have Havoline DS 5w-30 in my leaky '92 Integra. I have about 1qt left out of the 5qt container I picked up last week. I may send some off for VOA. The value of a UOA on the Integra isn't great though with a leaky head.

Why are most synthetic OCIs at 6k miles or less?

A very good point indeed. The last UOA I posted using AMSOIL TSO was around 6,200 miles. That oil is still in the vehicle and I will continue to run it for a few more months.

0w20 Amsoil for Ford V10 truck use?

Pablo, ASM is 0w-20. AMSOIL's only 5w-20 is XLM (GroupIII).

    AMSOIL TSO 0W/30, 6,200m, 04 Jeep TJ 2.4L

Thanks for the comments. The sample was taked after heavy salt use on the roadways. The air filter will be changed from the Airaid to an AMSOIL filter before the next interval.

    AMSOIL TSO 0W/30, 6,200m, 04 Jeep TJ 2.4L

Diry entry would not be a suprise since I changed the PCV (threaded into valve cover) during this OCI and I still need to get around to replacing the Airaid filter with a universal EaA. I do plan to go longer... The oil is still in use and was sampled by pump. I am going to run this to 7,500...
