    Is engine steam cleaning safe?

I don't think this is true, as I understand it the system has to be sealed to prevent the absorbtion of moisture.

If OHC is so great then why.....

I don't think this is true can you provide an example. the "super duty" trucks are considered "light" trucks. some heavier F450 and F550 models might be considered medium trucks, but I think they only come with a choice of diesel engines (cat, navi, cummins).

If OHC is so great then why.....

as examples, powerstroke 6.0/cummins/duramax are all "pushrod" 4valve per cylinder engines. I don't know of any OHC medium duty engine, there is a reason pushrods are favored for industrial engines, also, I don't think honda makes industrial engines. I did a quick search on Google and...

If OHC is so great then why.....

I think you are confusing "volumetric efficiency" (the efficiency with which the engine can move the charge into and out of the cylinders)with "thermodynamic efficiency" & "mechanical efficiency" & maybe even "chemical efficiency". the volumetric efficiency is dependent on many factors, total...

How do I know when its time for a new Oxygen Sensor ?

I've never had to replace an O2 sensor in a honda unless it was mechanically damaged (collision). you can test them easily enough, there are test procedures on the web for in and out of car testing. I have pulled junkyard O2 sensors from 200k+ mile cars that tested as good as new.

    Another dagger in GM

Cars that GM makes which are at/near the top of their respective categories: Cadillac Corvette GTO the new (2007) fullsize trucks SUVs It makes no sense why GM can't put a corvette type effort into making a class leading HIGH VOLUME CAR. Ford/GM are in the same boat, with ford arguably having...

    cats and O2 sensors

You can test oxygen sensors very easily, (do a google search) you need a propane torch and voltmeter. I would test all the sensors to find a set that work.

    Loose Object INSIDE Battery???

replace it if it is that old, an internal short will destroy the alternator.

I'm stupid & I need help with a Ford thermostat problem

o-ring = less labor to install, silicone rtv = works just as good. o-rings require a good surface finish to work. I have seen many o-ring sealing surfaces that were corroded (happens if coolant is not changed) and wouldn't seal with an o-ring, in that case either use rtv or replace parts. in...

    4.0L Engine Coolant/Flush

usually the bottom hose is the return line that feeds the water pump, disconnecting that would starve the engine of coolant. this method is sound though: disconnect the hose that flows hot coolant FROM the engine to the radiator (top hose)and let it drain into a bucket, continuously fill the...

I'm stupid & I need help with a Ford thermostat problem

I can't answer your original question, but if it is that tough, just use rtv instead of an o-ring. it's possible the sealing surface is damaged, in which case you'll have to use rtv anyway.

Interesting Oil Comparo Test with Results..

I'm not going to download the file but if it is the bearing test mentioned bove, you can get amazing results from any oil by simply adding some bleach.

I'm stupid & I need help with a Ford thermostat problem

rtv would be fine. the o-ring was used for cost only.

    99 Civic cracked exhaust manifold

first, don't just start throwing parts at a car, there is no reason to replace an oxygen sensor unless it is malfunctioning. testing them is easy, look it up on google. second there is no reason for the catalytic converter to be on its last legs. finally, the manifold CAN be welded or possibly...

5W-20 Too Thin for Pushrod Motors?

from a lubrication standpoint there is no difference between OHC and cam in block engines. bearing clearances are the same.
