If you KNOW the drain back holes are plugged I would try to open them up with a probe, air pressure or solvent and see what the results are. You may be sucking oil through the seals and valve guides and burning it.

DEXRON VI is the latest fluid spec from GM, that is what I would run. It is far superior to DEXRON III.

I don't believe his Owners Manual specifies flushing the system, although I think it is a good idea to do it every 2-3 years.

Although these are very differant transmissions the service procedure sounds like it would work for you. Dexron VI will mix just fine with Dexron III. Dexron VI is far superior to the old Dexron III.
