Best oil for BMW 335i N54 twin turbo?

Hi Terry, It is quite scary reading that all the normally good oils take strain in the N54 motor and I can't help but wonder how an oil like Motul 300V would perform since many of the high performance 4 cylinder Turbo crowd find it to work well even under track conditions? I suppose the...

    Combining different oil viscosities?

You can use the 0w-40 M1 without a problem, it meets the spec for that motor and it is so close to 5w-40 no1 will ever know the difference anyway. Besides that motor likes that oil, all the samples I have seen within normal useage look good. As an alternative try Motul Specific or Fuchs

05 Subaru STI (Turbo) Engine Rebuild.

Those motors like Motul 300v- use the 5w-40 if it's a daily driver, or the 15-50 if it is modded or gets run hard (which you mentioned it does)....I can assure you even without a cooler it will never look like that with the 300v in.

Mobil 1 0w-40 or Motul Specific.

Oil for high horsepower Mitsu Evolution

I suspect that motor is going to be running a tad rich, so I would go with Motul 300V 15w-50 or if you change it quite often, the 10w-40.

    Juan pablo Montoya

And remember that is just what Shumie earned as salary, he has an estimated wealth of 1/2 Billion Dollars and he is still paid a $10M per year retainer by Ferrari. JPM will work his whole life to earn a fraction of what Shumie has already made....not to mention the free Ferraris they hand...

Engine Oil Color Observation - Normal?

Most turbo motors turn the oil dark fairly quickly, it does not mean its reduced the oils ability to work properly. Since you are planning to keep the car long term, I would suggest one oil change in between the normal service changes.

    BMW 330i E90 Capacities

I had the oil changed on the 130i last week...1000km. Interesting that the car only took 6 litres, I thought it was 6,5? Anyway it has Mobil 1 0w-40 in it now.

    BMW 330i E90 Capacities

Thanks everyone thats a great help. I chatted to BM and they will do a oil change on both the 130 and 330 (the two we own) at 1000km, I am taking Mobil 1 0w-40 since I have quite a stock of it. I will leave the diff and gearbox for now.

    E90 - Electric Oil Pump

Sorry correction....its just the water pump that is electric. The oil pump is mechanical but variable according to oil pressure.

    E90 - Electric Oil Pump

I was quite surprised that the new 330i (and other E90's) have electric oil pumps that vary the rate of flow according to the motors needs? The water pumps is also a vario electric unit.

    BMW 330i

Thanks everyone great advice. BMW in SA say that the oil muct be LL01 spec and they use Castrol TXT 5w-30. They are however quite ok with me using Mobil 1 0w-40 as it meets the spec and since I have so much of it in stock, I think that is what I will use. Will let you know how it works.

OCI coming up - recommend me a oil for BMW V8

I would stick with the TXT, it is a very good oil and meets the BMW LL01 spec.....CG however does not...SLX AKA GC has the following spec, and it was formulated specifically for VW..... ACEA A3/B3/B4 API SL/CF MB 229.3, 229.5 GM-LL-A-025, GM-LL-B-025 VW 502 00/503 01/505 00 I would be...

    Lamborghini Murcielago Oil Change

I see your reasoning Doc. I will bet that there will be no problem with using the oil you suggest based on the type of driving your wife does with the car. I would be reluctant to say the same if the car did a few track days with the Jeremy Clarkson behind the wheel. Good luck and I look...

    Lamborghini Murcielago Oil Change

Hi Doc, have you given Motul 300v 0w-20 any thought? It is about a shear stable as you are going to find anywhere. I know you are concerned/anti "race" oils for road applications, but I did check with the Motul technical guys and they said that although the oil is aimed at race applications and...

Decided on Motul 8100 excess 5w-40...

You could also use the Motul 8100 E-Tech 0w-40, its got the 503.01 spec and is an Ester Oil that I think will stand up to a hiding a bit better than the Excess. I use the 300v 5w-40...good stuff.
