I used Liqui-Moly Top-tec 4200 5w30 on our 09 TDI before we sold it back. Available at NAPA and was VW 507 spec. I probably have some UOAs on it with no issues.

Thanks for the replies. I set the glue traps out tonight and I'm going to give the mint oil a try. Good point in the old plastic plus bug bomb hydrocarbons. Another reason to avoid them. Tenting will be plan B.
