2005 Chevy Malibu Classic Serpentine Belt

I've a 2005 Chevy Classic with the EcoTec 2.2 How hard is it to change out the serpentine belt? Special tools needed? I'm getting close to 100K miles and I'd rather avoid taking it to a shop if I can. Thanks

    Hyundai SantaFe 4-cyl Valve replacement?

The damaged valves are on the back of the engine. They are the Intake valves, I was mistaken earlier when I said they were the exaust valves. I looked at the engine - should have gotten some pics, it's fairly clean considering the mileage and unknown history. The new timing belt is on the...

    Hyundai SantaFe 4-cyl Valve replacement?

My wife told me that she was driving then the engine quit. She pulled off to the side of the road and called me. I tried the key, the engine appeared to turn over fine, but no starting. This car is out of warranty. The shop informed me that the balance shaft belt fell to the floor when the...

    Hyundai SantaFe 4-cyl Valve replacement?

I'm in a bit of a pickle here. 2003 SantaFe, 2.4L 4-cyl. Wifes car shut off on her while she was driving a few days ago. Initial inspection shows a damaged crankshaft position sensor and balance shaft belt. Shop replaces all parts, gets the spark back and finds no compression in any of the...

    Brake Cleaner+Welding = DEADLY!!!

It's unlikely that he was reacting to phosgene. Phosgene acts in that it decomposes to hydrochloric acid in the presence of water - it would also cause burning to mucous membranes. Chlorinated solvents, however, can have neurological effects as they are central nervous system depressants...

    NGK V-Power

Much MUCH better than Bosch Platinums in my Hyundai Accent. I've also used them to replace platinum plugs in other vehicles. They always run smooth. I change them every 30K miles so the non-platinum is not an issue.

    MMO: Contains Chlorinated Hydrocarbons

I agree that MSDS is most likely for the penetrating oil. Dichlorobenzene would be one heck of a good solvent for grease or sticky-gummy petroleum based gunk.

Ten cars that helped destroy the Big Three

Buddy of mine had a Renault. The alternator was barely strong enough to power the engine and headlights at the same time. Seriously, the car would slow down when the lights were turned on.

Car acts up when it rains?

'03 Hyundai SantaFe, 2.4L engine. This is the wife's car. We've owned it since Feb. After we purchased it it had a problem where it would loose power and would ocassionally surge/stutter while at idle/low speed. It was determined (by the dealer) to be a coil pack that was failing under load...

Using 2 cycle in a 4 cycle. question.

I don't think that 40:1 two cycle fuel being burned in an air cooled engine will care whether it is in a 4-cycle or a 2-cycle engine. The oil is designed to be burned. I use a 40:1 mix in all of my lawn care fuel too - simplifies the fuel supply - never had an issue with it - and it seems to...

    Corrosive Ammo

Best cleaning and lubrication for weapons using corrosive ammo? I've an AK74 with which I use surplus russian ammo which has corossive primers. Right now I pour a tea-kettle full of boiling water through the receiver/barrel/gas tube, then clean with Hoppes, and lube with a few drops of Dexron...

    KIA Sportage

I'm geting serious here. Local dealer has '08 & '09 KIA Sportages for about $12,500 after incentives. Reviews look good, decent mileage numbers. I'd be getting the 5 speed manual and 4x4 with the 140hp 4-cyl. Any real word experience with these?

    Difference between GL-4 & GL-5?

My '02 Hyundai Accent specified GL4 for it's manual transmission. My understanding was that GL5 fluid is not compatable with yellow metals.

Awesome! I haven't been under the truck yet to look around, we've only had the truck for 4 days now. A drain plug is great! Thanks.
