Thoughts on oil change before storage.

After I change the oil I need to circulate it don't I ? Driving for 20 miles is no different for the oil pump if the car is sitting still or deing driven.

Thoughts on oil change before storage.

Thanks for the replies so far. I definitely will be changing it then. The tank is topped up I already planned on filling it righ to the top when i park it then adding the stabilizer. I have a spare set of wheels and tires i let it sit on over the winter. For the rims i'm removing the air and...

Thoughts on oil change before storage.

I believe changing the oil is better before storage right? I have about 2k (hard use) km on the oil that was in the car, have new oil/filter ready to swap. SHould this be done now before storage? if so after firing it up in the new year it doesn't need changine again does it ? Just looking for...

Race engine Oil consumption/smoke problem SOLVED!

I can see your logic but the pcv on my valve cover is on top of the cover, with a tube going to the throttle body. The second pcv I believe is connecting the intake vally area to the manifold. this doesn't have any oil in it because the oil is further below. Guess I still have a small amount of...

Race engine Oil consumption/smoke problem SOLVED!

well it does degrade because with a pcv all the gases escaping past the rings in the crankcase are sucked into the manifold. without a pcv they stay there and contaminate the oil.

Race engine Oil consumption/smoke problem SOLVED!

i change my oil every week or two i could care less about oil degradation. Its not creating much blowby at all. In fact full throttle on a dyno there isn't a wisp of smoke coming out of the pipes until the throttle is shut. i can only imagine how much suction there is ina 6.4L motor at 7900 rpm...

Race engine Oil consumption/smoke problem SOLVED!

As many of you have read my previous posts of my motor smoking underdecceleration, i have finally solved the problem. My motor was consuming up to 3 litres of oil in less than a week and a half. i tried Mobil 1 5w50 twice and in under 2 weeks on both changes 3 lires were missing from the pan...

    Switched from M1 5w-50 to Redline 5w-30 =SMOKE !!!

hmm.. since the motor was first run, there's approx 3200 km on the car since then. I never read anywhere not to use redline for a few thousand miles, I'm surprised the redline rep who I was talking to never mentioned anything. if I may, what are the consequences of running a synthetic too soon...

Appreciate the responses. Funny ones too 427 i agree with you fully. He's an interesting person to deal with. I respect him alot for building what I wanted but I couldn't agree with you more. He mocks me sometimes and it frustrates me that he thinks he knows everything about everything. here...

    Switched from M1 5w-50 to Redline 5w-30 =SMOKE !!!

Moribundam, sorry for sounding rude. i don't want to come across as a prick. Mech I don't have gas ported pistons, they are the higher silicon content lightweight forged JE pistons. I do believe however the ring tenstion may be low. As witnessed on the dyno the car DOES make good power (460ish...

    Switched from M1 5w-50 to Redline 5w-30 =SMOKE !!!

good for you. It wasn't full throttle revving, it was part throttle revving to get some sound clips of how the exhaust sounded. I think 'stomped' on it is the wrong word. I didn't paste my throttle to the floor. As for being hot yesterday I drove it till the oil got fully warm and tried the...

    Switched from M1 5w-50 to Redline 5w-30 =SMOKE !!!

Well most of you have seen my post asking if the 5w50 was overkill. i decided based on reccomendations from AMsoil, Redline and Mobil that a good 5w30 would be good for me. After the redline rep was most communicative and helpful to me I decided to try their product. A few days back I was...
