    The problems with GDI

Tell me how higher octane fuel will help with IVD's when the fuel never even sees the back side of the valve? Higher octane does NOTHING for engines that don't need it.

Subaru Drainback Fix - Cheap & Easy*

Just because one has a ADBV doesn't mean the oil is not flowing out of the filter on the "clean" side of the media. The ADBV keeps the oil in the filter on the "dirty" side of the media only. This is exactly what happens on Subarus. This is not my video, but someone wanted to show the ADBV...

I bought my Baxter before they switched the nipple to accept the OEM sized filters. I have a M22x1.5 nipple (vs the M20x1.5 that the new ones have to accept the OEM sized filter). So I'm running a larger filter than OEM. I use a Fram Titanium FS10575. It's the same filter my other halves'...

LOL. Thanks. yeah, I was dormant for a long time up until recently and never really contributed all that much. Don't take my longevity as knowledge, as I am a newbie when it comes to knowledge compared to some others on here. Back in the early 2000-10's, there were some very knowledgeable...

No, that won't work, as the gravity flow from the oil will not be able to get past the anti-siphon valve in the adapter. All you need it a very little bit of air pressure. I use like 10psi, but even less will work. nope, not at all. It's really just an anti-siphon valve. There are oil...

yes, it's a Schrader valve (like what you have on your car/bike tires). You need to apply some air pressure to it to evacuate the oil from filter before spinning it off, otherwise you WILL have a mess to clean up.

No, you won. :) gudentyte on the XVForum has been running one for a few months now too. He PM'd me over there asking me a couple questions. It took care of his start-up noises too. This is right after he installed it: When I asked him not too long ago if he still had it installed and how...

This is what completely took care of all the cold start valvetrain clatter for me and the OP of this thread on our Crosstreks. https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/baxter-performance-oil-filter-anti-drain-adapter.354115/

Certifications are not a cut and dry topic and very ambiguous. I personally believe US certifications are what they are with keeping CAFE in mind. I could be wrong. Lots of reading on the topic here with lots of links. https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/why-not-just-run-a-euro-oil.380868/

Howdy! I'd go with M1 ESP 0w30 if you want a big box store oil. It carries some impressive Euro approvals. It's what I was planning on running before I decided to go with HPL. Whereas the 0w30 AFE only carry's D1G3 and Ford approvals.

    Psychic's? Believe or not?

Have any of you ever heard of cold readers? That's what psychics are. They have a talent, but instead of using it like magicians and illusionist do, they use it to deceive people and take one's money. https://www.vanishingincmagic.com/mentalism/articles/how-does-cold-reading-work

Why 93 Octane in a GDI engine if it isn’t called for?

ahh, no. Shell is Top Tier, which means ALL of their octane grades MUST meet Top Tier standards for detergents. https://www.shell.us/motorist/shell-fuels/shell-v-power-nitro-plus-premium-gasoline/shell-v-power-nitro-plus-premium-gasoline-faqs.html

Traveling and can't always fill up with Top Tier Fuel

Not if it's Top Tier. ALL grades/octane levels MUST meet the same standard if they are to be Top Tier. Shell is Top Tier....so ALL grades meet the same standard. BP is no longer TT.

Traveling and can't always fill up with Top Tier Fuel

You guys do realize "premium" fuel is not any different quality than standard 87 octane, right? The higher level of octane does not make it a higher quality fuel. One always wants to run the lowest octane that will not cause pinging, any more than that is a waste. As far as Top Tier, I do...

    GDI oil change interval

GDI and short trips. Cheap insurance. I have since switched to HPL PCMO and will be going 6 months. It's costing me less to run HPL @ 6 month intervals vs Mobil 1 ESP @ 3 month intervals. The Acadia will be around 5-6K at that 6 month period and my Crosstrek will be around that 4-5K area at 6...
