Thanks Ken, I guess I can live with that answer.

    137 diesel treat

Wouldn't that be a stable fuel/water emulsion? It also says: 26. Prevention of the formation of stable fuel-water emulsions. I'm still missing something. 23,24, and 26 (from the #137ND diesel treat) still appear to me to contradict each other. Can anyone explain this to me?

    137 diesel treat

    23. Allow moisture to be rapidly separated from the fuel. 24. Dispersion of water present in diesel fuel in order to prevent fuel icing and other problems associated with water. How is it possible to do both? Is dispersion the same as emulsification?

    extended service interval

Its for chassis lubrication. I'd assume its mostly squeezed out, and maybe some washout. The lithium complex I'm using now did better than the aluminum base on the water washout test, but does this test take into account the lithium complex emulsifying water over time? Its not really direct...

    137 diesel treat

So a dispersant can keep water spread out through the fuel, but keep it where it can easily be removed by a water removing filter. While an emulsifier actually mixes the fuel with water and makes it difficult to remove. Is that correct?

So additives that say they disperse water work the same(in dealing with water) as the ones that say they emulsify water?

What is the best indicator of how long a grease will stay put? Is it the water washout test, the thickener(lithium, aluminum, etc.), or an additive in the grease?

    By-pass filter with particle counts

I would almost guarantee that this oil after 18,000 miles is cleaner than oil with no bypass at 3,000 miles. I have seen numerous studies from different companies that showed less wear in engines with a bypass filter. No filter will filter out everything. Its just not possible. there are more...

    By-pass filter with particle counts

The screen on my window also catches dirt smaller than one micron, however neither do it efficiently. The fact is that there are no particle tests below one micron which makes this a very vague claim. The amsoil bypass filter is a good filter its just poorly marketed. I haven't looked in a while...

    Best bypass filter

I have the oil guard and I'm very impressed with it. Definitely check their website before you buy. Don't be fooled by vague claims of filtering ability, especially below 1 micron(there is no test to prove it). Try to compare the absolute filtration of each filter. I looked at a lot of filters...

    FIRST ANALYSIS ON DURAMAX DIESEL

I think I'll take Bill's advice and change it now. Fuel dilution is high viscosity is lower. TBN and oxidation are still OK but TBN has taken a pretty good hit. With that high fuel dilution does anyone think I have an injector problem? These are mostly city miles with a little idling. I've...

    FIRST ANALYSIS ON DURAMAX DIESEL

I'm sorry. I didn't think it would matter with technical stuff. I was typing for the hard of hearing its just so much easier for me that way. I'll take the time and go the extra mile in the future.

I GOT THIS MOWER FROM MY DAD(ITS PROBABLY BEEN ABUSED). IT RUNS GREAT, BUT IT SMOKES REAL BAD. WHEN YOU FIRST START IT IT SMOKES TERRIBLE. AFTER A COUPLE MINUTES IT SMOKES OFF AND ON. IF YOU IDLE IT IT SMOKES THE WORST. I HAVE 15W-40 MOBILE DELVAC IN IT NOW TO CLEAN IT UP SOME, BUT AFTER RUNNING...

THANKS V-6 DIESEL I HAD NO IDEA. (DARN THIS ENGLISH SYSTEM. WHY DON'T WE JUST LEARN THE METRIC SYSTEM LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.) THAT IS A LOT OF WEIGHT. THANKS FOR THE INFO DOUG. MY TRUCK HAS A SPINNER II ON IT FOR SOOT CONTROL. I ALSO USED THE ELF 3998. I FINALLY FOUND THEM FOR A BETTER PRICE(BY THE CASE). I REFIGURED MY BREAK-EVEN POINT AND I THINK IT IS CLOSER TO 45000 MILES IF I DO IT MYSELF. ITS ALSO MUCH MORE CONVENIENT TO NOT HAVE TO MESS...
