How long are your mower batteries lasting?

I think it is luck of the draw. The OE battery on my JD lasted 9+ years, stupid me I preemptively replaced it, I couldn't believe it was still going. The replacement only lasted 2 years. I've got a few years on my 3rd battery, I did have to jump it the first time this spring but it has been...

Idle to cool down, isn't full throtno load better?

I never idle my air cooled lawn mowers. The engines run at full governed speed from start to shutdown. Fans doesn't move much air at idle. I figure the cooldown on the rider is when I disengage the blades and drive it back into the garage. 15 mowing seasons and 700 hours so far with no issues...

    Kohler CV18 Engine oil ?

I use the Mystik JT8 10w30 in all my OPE. You can't beat the price at Farm & Fleet. Rotella is fine and all, but at least $1.00 more per quart. It does come in smaller jugs if you like that convenience.

    ScanGauge - A Useful Tool

My scanguage II has been plugged in continuously for going on 7 years and 70,000 miles. Before that it was plugged into another for 3 years. My vehicles behave exactly the same whether it is plugged in or not. FWIW.

What oil should I be running in my jeep?

What you are running now sounds perfect. 10w30 is what I would choose in your climate. Supertech oil is fine, and you don't have to mess with rebates or watch for sales. There is some hysteria on here against Purolator filters but I haven't had any problems with them. If you want to switch...

    Spark plug fail

I'm guessing it's cracked. As to why? May have been dropped, could be a manufacturing defect. Hard to say. It wouldn't scare me away from NGK plugs unless it happened again.

Kawasaki Oil or Mobil 1 ?

If it was me, and I was running a business like you... I'd be buying Mystik synthetic blend 15w40 at $50 per 5 gallon pail. About $2.50 a quart. Meets all the same specs as that Amsoil. Edit: (That is retail pricing, I'm sure you could get it cheaper even.)

Don't be afraid to read/ask on the motorcycle forum. A lot more experience with 50 weights over there, if you are convinced that is what you need.

Kawasaki Oil or Mobil 1 ?

The other Mobil 1 oils you might be looking at are the motorcycle oils, Racing 4T and V-twin. The 10w40 Racing 4T meets JASO MA, but the 20w50 is only API SJ/CF. Neither one claims to meet CJ-4. If you want a 50 you could run year round (in Florida), Mystik makes a 15w50 CJ-4 synthetic blend I...

Kawasaki Oil or Mobil 1 ?

Kawasaki oil: Meets JASO MA API Service CJ-4 and SL JASO MA is a motorcycle spec. CJ-4 is a HDEO (diesel engine) spec. I would just run 15w40 CJ-4 year round. The Mobil 1 to get if that is the brand you want is Mobil 1 TDT (Turbo Diesel Truck.) Look for CJ-4 on the label. If you want full...

    Space Heater Issue

The GFCI plug might be just fine. There could be an intermittent short in the heater. Or the plug might be bad. If you replace it and it still pops you'll know it's the heater. edit: Ethan types faster than I do
