Are all VW spec'd 507 oils compatible?

dparm, it didn't occur to me that my question wasn't clear. Compatible with other 507 spec'd oils. Based of the replies, I'm guessing a 507 rated oil is compatible with other brands of 507 rated oils.

5w-30 at 10.2k miles; 230k miles on Villager

I have been told that to get to the GF-5 standard even dino oils are 30% synthetic. Mentally, as you've seen from my early drain tendencies, it would make me crazy to go 10,000 miles. My hat's off to you and, btw, your signature make all the sense in the world to me.

Toyota Avalon 08 132,190 mi. Pennzoil Plat 5w30

Carbon, "Like you, I was running Pennzoil Plat 5w-30 and my UOA too showed high sodium with no traces of coolant" It is very possible that Pennzoil has added sodium to their formula.

Toyota Avalon 08 132,190 mi. Pennzoil Plat 5w30

DNewton, Thank you for the reply. The Avalon has a funny air box, the front left side has a notch and never apprears completely sealed and it is very easy to close it incorrectly. I'll check it, wheather permitting.

Friendly, maybe. I (me personally) would have an issue running anything 10,000 miles, I certainly wouldn’t call the intervals you mentioned conservative. I‘d agree the short intervals and the UOA is a waste, not to mention taking the time to post them.

Toyota Avalon 08 132,190 mi. Pennzoil Plat 5w30

This started as an experiment to find out if synthetic was better than conventional in my application. This experiment morphed into a “which lube is best” quest. I haven’t had any issue with this car, overheating or otherwise, so it’s not that. It’s just an over maintenance obsession. dnewton3...

I agree, it's hard to read, and I am sorry. I messed with Photobucket for more than an hour, and couldn't upload the image. I've looked at Notepad, and I am not sure how get the document in the requested format.

This is my most current UOA on my Avalon. I'm concerned about the spike in Sodium. So, I'm trying to figure out what might be going on. I'm wondering if Redline fuel treatment might be the cause. I know I'm going to get hammered for my early changes, I acknowlege that. The current change is...

    Higher TAN Good or Bad?

I’ve got a question about TAN. I’ve had four UOA’s done by Wear Check and they measure TAN and not TBN for gasoline engines. I’d prefer to have both so I can measure the relationship between the two, but what I’ve got is TAN. Over the past four analysis, I’ve has TAN of 1.24, 2.46, 1.26 and...

    Fuel Additive, which one?

I maintain (own, but not drive) three vehicles, a 2004 Honda Accord, a 2008 GMC Acadia and a 2008 Toyota Avalon. I’ve used Lubrication Engineers LX-2300 with good results, increased gas mileage, better UOA’s, and a general “good feeling”; I am currently experimenting with Schaeffer’s Soy Ultra...

What is my Honda Pilot engine's REAL problem?

I have tried to stay away from this thread, but it’s like a car accident, you try not to look, but you look anyway. Listen, no offense intended, but it’s your car and your responsibility. 90,000 miles, you’re way out of warranty. Honda has said no, and they’re out. Your Dealer will be nice, but...

    Toyota RAV4 with 2GR-FE (3.5 V6)

INDYMAC, LE has changed the formula of both 5w30 and 10w30 to meet Gf-5 standards. I understand it's base formulation is a synthetic now. Have you used and tested any of the new formulations? My rep called some months ago and I bought a couple of cases of 5w30 "on sale", my guess was they were...

Changed LE 5W30 for Eneos Sustina 5W30

Just changed LE 5W30 to Eneos Sustina 5W30 in my Toyota Avalon. The Sustina seemed thinner, it poured very quickly. It could have been the larger opening in the bottle, I don't know. I'll post a UOA at 4,000 miles and see where I am. There's been some discussion about this line of oil, so we'll see.

    Shell Oil coupon Fail

I usually buy my gas at Shell. There is signage at the pump and on the receipt that says something like this, “$10 off the purchase of 5 quarts of Pennzoil Platinum at AutoZone.” I thought, hum good idea. So I went to AutoZone, got my 5 quarts of Pennzoil and went to the counter. The clerk said...
