Anyone else have a problem with Castrol Transmax Dex VI Mercon LV?

A few weeks ago I sucked out the ATF pan through the dipstick tube and refilled with the above fluid. Almost instantly it started shifting weird, delayed shift like excess slipping. Going from P or N to drive is also delayed then it clunks into gear. Fluid level is right where it should be...

Fram Ultra Air Filter Manufacturing fail

In the picture below you see a Fram Ultra #10348 on the left and a CarQuest Premium 83018 on the right that fit my 2017 Jeep Wrangler. The Fram is too short to properly fit the Jeep housing and doesn't seal properly which can allow unfiltered air to bypass the filter. It isn't easy to see when...

Harbor Freight 20 ton hydraulic press

Has anyone ever seen these 20 ton presses go on sale? I have a 12 ton but am looking to upgrade. Been watching them for a while and other than a 10% off coupon, I never see them on sale.

GM AFM lifter failure mode identified by GM?

This video by GM is 5 years old, but I've never seen it discussed. Apparently low oil pressure is or can be the culprit. Low oil pressure caused by plugged VLOM filter, or VLOM leak causing a "miss timed" reactivation event of the lifter. Or IMO, using 0w20 oil, but that's just me.

Is a Fram 3600 the long version of the 3614?

It's been a while since I've used lots of Ford filters so I am not sure if I remember this right. Is a Fram 3600 the correct long version of the 3614. I am using the Ultras on my daughters 2.0 Ecoboost and I put on a 3614 Ultra, but I want to use the longer one going forward.

    Mopar 8 & 9 speed ATF

Is there an ATF available at Walmart or auto parts stores that is the correct fluid for the 2019 Jeep Cherokee 9 speed automatic, in which the book calls for Mopar 8 & 9 speed ATF for the ZF transmission?

Do I have a lower unit issue?.

I am back into boating and bought a 2000 Maxum 2300sc with 7.4 MPI and Bravo 3 sterndrive. I have never had or been around a Bravo three. When spinning the the props by hand, I can hear a whirring noise similar to a bearing that is too tight. No play in bearings and it is smooth. Cannot see any...

    Electrical troubleshooting

Here is an awesome video on electrical troubleshooting of multiple system problems at once. The dealer wanted to throw the parts cannon at it, this second opinion mechanic knows what he is doing and fixed the problem through diagnosis and a simple cheap solution.

Permanent search bar (non functional) in center of my screen

Somehow a search bar is now on my screen, always on top of anything else I am doing. About a 2 inch by 3/8ths inch rectangle with the words "Enter your search term" inside the box. It is non functional, I canot enter anything into the box. Cannot figure out how to get rid of it, cannot move it...

    doorbell transformers

I am replacing my 33 year old doorbell transformer, not because it's bad, but because it doesn't have enough power to work with the ring doorbell I am installing. The replacement transformer from Lowe's has 3 voltages available I think 9, 16, and 24 depending on how you wire it. I need 16v, but...

    Home heat pump question

My home heat pump works fine in AC mode. But when I switch to heat mode the compressor does not run, only the air handler fan runs which results in no temp change. I am fairly familiar with AC only systems and have been reading about heat pumps but I don't know where to start with this one...

GM displacement on demand or active fuel management systems

My understanding of the GM 5.3L or 6.2L with the Active Fuel Management (or other names of similar systems) is that they have been very problematic. Is that still true on the direct injected engines 2015 and up? If so, is there a way to make them reliable ie permanently shut off that system? I...

2 year old oil looks clean in diesel

I maintain some equipment at our local rodeo grounds including a 1980s or 90s era water truck with an international diesel. It gets used only when events are coming up which is to say not very often...it might sit for 4 months then be used every day for a week then sit several more months before...

    Jeep grand or regular cherokee

Thinking about buying a Cherokee Trailhawk or Grand Cherokee Trailhawk to tow behind the motorhome. Thoughts on either? If I pull the trigger it will be V6 only, and the only options I might be interested in are rock rails and advanced safety system (crash detection and auto braking). New or...

    New motorhome, what to use

I just bought a "new to me" 2010 Itasca Meridian motorhome. The paint looks very good, good shine. A few minor blemishes, but over all good. I am searching for products that I can easily source, to keep the paint looking good and protected. The sun here is brutal. What would be recommended to do...

    Emissions readiness

On my 2015 Superduty Diesel, I am running into an issue with registration (due in 2 days) because I cannot get it emissions ready to take the emissions test. A week ago the dealer was repairing a check engine light and erased the codes, I have since gone 175 miles and had 10 engine warm up...

I have about a 1 year old Dell desk top computer that runs windows 10 at about 7mbps download speed, while other computers connected to the same router are running about 150mbps. This Dell used to run that fast but something happened and I don't know what. McAfee doesn't see anything wrong...

    Thumbs up/down

Admin, any chance thumbs up and thumbs down buttons could be added so that we could just click a thumbs up button if we agree with a post or click thumbs down if we don't rather than having to add an additional reply. There are very good posters and some posters who give very bad info. If an OP...
