    challenged driver of the day

Wow, timing is perfect on this one. Last night, I was driving the family to a night of fine dining at Cici's. As we approached a left turn onto the on-ramp the car in front of me turns left onto the exit-ramp. Must not have seen the do not enter sign etc. Fortunately for them, they quickly...

    the 80's

Graduated from High School in 1985 and College in 1991. Remember when nobody ate at Taco Bell because it was too expensive. Turned up collars and izod shirts (I had to settle for some other creature beside the alligator). damp, dark, Mother Fletchers at OSU on a Thursday night with a $4...

    Biggest complaint about focus

Hrrrm... The ION and niggling annoyances... The center console cover located where my elbow wanted to go while shifting (ended up removing the cover) The abs and brake warning lights that occasionally stay lit until I restart the car The plastic air dam that hangs down under the car and...

Anyone own a Chevy Cruze yet?

I saw my first Cruze today in the wild. It was parked right next to my ION as I was leaving work. At least, IMHO, they are nice looking.

    Props to Rock Auto!

Since I started ordering from rockauto I have given very little business to the local Autozone and Advance auto stores. I wonder if the nice internet coupon codes and deals from Advance lately are their attempt to fight this trend.

Cars you regret getting rid off

1985 Golf Diesel I bought it used around 1993 and drove it until an accident in 1999. The damage was relatively minor but I did not want to put money into fixing a 15 year old car. Now, I wish I had fixed it up and kept it going. There will never be such a simple and economical diesel car...

Pronto PO5436 cartridge filter (ION, Cobalt, etc)

What the [censored]. Maybe I will use them. It is only the ION, if the engine grenades then I can buy a Mazda 2 with an, almost, clear conscience.

Pronto PO5436 cartridge filter (ION, Cobalt, etc)

Interesting... Nobody is troubled by the inner pleats not having a gap? I bought six since they were so cheap. That is probably three years of usage for me!

Pronto PO5436 cartridge filter (ION, Cobalt, etc)

Rock Auto sells these filters for $2.03. Naturally, I was fascinated since this is so much cheaper than any alternative. I bought a couple. The box says made in Korea. The filter itself says nothing about its place of origin. Strangely, this uber-cheap filter includes an o-ring for the cap...

Toyota Tercels - the true underdog! Had one?

We have had two. When I was dating my wife she was driving a Honda Civic. She assumed her dad was changing the oil. Dad assumed she was changing the oil. Strangly, when her brother borrowed the car one day, the camshaft snapped. Anyway, her next vehicle was a 92 Tercel DX with manual...

    Cautionary Tale: Castrol Import Multivehicle

Thank you, I was beginning to feel like a pariah. So far, our Corolla transmission has been happy since the fluid change with no problems observed. I did get to drive it quite a bit over the weekend. It would be interesting to hear if anybody has had similar issues using OEM fluids.
