Mix 3 Very Low Mile Samples?

Have a car that'd been minimally used for the past three years, so only was putting about 300-500 miles a year on it, but was changing the oil annually. I have three separate oil samples from each change that I never sent in. What's the thinking on mixing them well and combining them into one...

Can I Use This Filter on an 05 Corolla?

I know this is not the recommended fitment but I have several Toyota 90915-03005/90915-20002 (crosses to a Wix 51348) that I'd like to use up. Can I use them without harm on a 2005 Toyota Corolla? FWIW...All the specs look the same other than exterior dimensions and the burst strength.

    Vitron Tires?

Anyone know anything about or try Vitron tires? See them available locally and never heard of them. They are Taiwanese, which is probably already a strike against them. They are made by a company called Vee Rubber.

2 Different Sized "Baldwin B2" Filters?

I'm confused. Went to order some Baldwin B2 (FL1A equivalent), and I am seeing two different sized filters both called Baldwin "B2". One looks like the traditional 1 qt. FL1A sized filter, and the other looks longer, possibly 2 qts. If you google "Baldwin B2 oil filter" and then click the...

Failed Media on Napa Pro Select - Pics

This 51515 (FL1A) sized Napa Pro Select was on one of my Land Cruisers (the '93) for a 3 month, 3210 mile OCI. Fill was Castrol GTX dino 10W-30. I cut this used filter open primarilly to be able to compare it to the also Wix manufactured "Auto Extra" that I just posted pics of here. Well, I've...

Pics of Auto Extra 51515 - Cut Open/Unused

I like a good (good as in decent quality) bargain filter as much as anyone, so I have been curious about these "AutoExtra" filters that I've seen at RockAuto. I bought a few, and before I used one, I dissected it. Incidentally, I did the same with RockAuto's other bargain filter, "Pronto"...

    Pics of Casite CF-391 - Cut Open/Unused

Been cutting open a bunch of filters lately. I have lots of oddball stuff....this one is an older stock Casite CF-391 that was for a Peugeot 505 I used to own. I was always curious about how Casites were built, and the consensus I detect on this forum is to stick with Clarcor's higher end...

    Orange Can....But NOT Fram!

I periodically share pics of unusual or older filters that I come across in my dealings with imported cars. Perhaps some of you remember a few unusual Italian made filters I posted last year. Anyway, today this one came in. and it was one I've never seen before. It was in a typical Beck Arnley...

    Fram Motor Oil!?!?

I am not kidding. I was in a National Auto Parts (a local chain) today and could not believe my eyes. There, on an end cap, in bright orange bottles was....Fram...Motor OIL! Anyone else know anything about this strange development? Sorry, I didn't/couldn't snap a pic. I googled it and didn't...

Should I be Annoyed at Rock Auto?

First off, let me make it clear that I love Rock Auto. I personally think that their combination of prices/selection/service are pretty tough to beat and I get LOTS of parts from them. But...last week I ordered a bunch of oil filters for 4 different applications (I maintain 12 vehicles). They...

Rare Italian Savara Brand Oil Filter Pics

Hope you guys are enjoying all of my "oddities"... Anyway, here's another filter rarely seen in the USA, this one used. This is an Italian made Savara brand filter. It's PH16 sized and came off a Fiat 124. These filters were a common "OEM" Fiat filter and when Fiat was in the USA selling cars...

Why Not Use HDEO in Everything?

Here's my question... If the add pack in a good HDEO is so stout, is there a good reason not to use one in everything? I've used HDEO's with superb results in my vintage cars for years. In cars that do lots of sitting, I'm convinced these oils help keep internal engine corrosion at bay. Been...

Pics of Vintage P&D Facet PH-2850 Filter

Yet another oldie!! And, I think a pretty uncommon brand. This is a P&D Facet PH-2850 from likely the early to mid 1980's. I know that Facet had some type of affiliation with Purolator, but I believe this filter is from before that alliance. If anyone knows more than me about this affiliation...

More Oldies: 30 Year Old Champion Labs Pair (pics)

Last week I showed you a vintage Warner PH-2850. Here's some more oldies from my vintage filter stash. The dissected one is a Warner PH-2849 made by Champion Labs. The latest applications printed on the box are 1981 models, so that is where I am getting the estimated age of about 30 years from...

Pics of Very Old Atlas Filter (1950's?)

Here are pics that I promised of a really old Atlas G-66 filter. Uncut...so far. I was going to cut it to analyze the internals but I am now having second thoughts about putting a hacksaw to this relic. I may have more of these and if I can find them, I may feel better about sacrificing this...

Pics of Vintage Warner PH-2850 Filter

Through my dealings with parts for vintage cars, I came into possession of a case of these vintage Warner PH-2850 filters. These came from a parts inventory that I beleive to be at LEAST 20 years old, and possibly closer to 30. Other than a bit of surface rust on the endcaps of a few of them...

Pics of (Korea) Pronto Filter from 2010

These have been mentioned before in a few other posts and most seemed concerned that they are apparently no longer being made in USA. I took the plunge and got some from Rock Auto for two different applications. They were both about $1.75 each not including shipping. One of the applications...

    Warner PH2850 Substitute for FL1A?

I am looking for guidance if is would be safe to use a Warner PH2850 on an application that calls for the common PH8A/FL1A? I have several of the Warners that I'd like to use up. From what I am able to figure out, the 2850 and PH8A are identical except the 2850 has a higher bypass rating (30 psi...

    Confusing Cross Reference Question

Ok...I have a cross reference question that I hope makes sense. I have two new (but older stock) filters in front of me: 1) A Warner PH-2850. On the box it says it crosses to the following: AC PF2 Fram 2850 Wix 51452 2) A Donaldson P55008. On that filter's box it says it crosses to: AC PF1 PF2...
