    Mobil clean 5k

Just switched over today in my Taco. Also installed my Magnetic drain plug and motorcraft FL400S filter. Truck takes like 5.5qts, I only had 5qts of Mobil so I had to add about 1/4-1/3qt of PP that I had laying around. But so far... no start up noise at all. The Mobil has a very distinct odor...

    Switching to Mobil clean 5000

Was looking at dino 5w-30's this weekend for a few cars that I take care of. Decided to go with the Mobil clean 5k. I can get a 5qt jug at wally for $11 (vs $13 for YB) The oil is SM/CF GF4 rated and meets the GM, chrysler and ford specs for conventional oil. No other Dino 5-30 is "C" rated...

    Opinions/Recomendations

Hey guys. For the sake of simplifying my oil stock and everyone running 5k OCI's that I take care of (5 cars), what would you recomend: 5w-30 Conv Valvoline(SM), YB Pennzoil(SM), Mobil 5000(SM/CF). We all run 5w-30. All are on a 5k OCI. Which do you guys think is the better/best pick of the...

2009 Tacoma Gear Lube; Mobil 1 or Valv Syn?

Alright guys, at the 15k oil change I plan on dumping the rear diff, Tcase (4x4) and front Diff Lube out. I'm stuck between Mobil 1 75w-90 and Valv Syn 75w-90. From what I've researched the Mobil 1 is only GL5 approved. The valv is Mack GO-XX approved and GL5 approved. The valvoline's viscocity...

    Cold Start issues, help

Ok guys. This is what's happening. it's a 2006 2.3L Suzuki. We've had it since new and I'm the only one that's worked on this car. For the first 25k of it's life I used a Purolator (white) and 5w-30 SM dino of whatever brand was on sale, Castrol, Valvoline, ETC. At 25k I switched to PP 5-30. The...

    4.0L Toyota MPG's with Synthetic?

Anyone with a newer 4.0L Tacoma notice a MPG gain when using synthetic (5w30)? I know our Suzuki seems to like the PP much better than dino, and MPG's seemed to have been bumped about 1-2mpg. Wondering how the Taco reacts to it. I have to stick to 5K OCI for warranty reasons. But if that's the...

    Wix 51516 or M.C. 400S???

I cut open a ton of filters for the L20195 Application; long toyota. I cut L, PL's, napa gold, napa proselect, Denso japan OEM, and 400S MC. I narrowed my choices down to either the 400S motorcraft or the 1516 napa gold. $6.69 WIX: Pros- Coil spring, 13% more media, deeper pleats. Cons-...

    5w-30 Conventional; Pennzoil, Mobil ?

I'm currently using YB Pennzoil 5-30. I noticed the mobil 5k is SM/CF rated. Most other dinos are not C rated at all. think it might be a touch better, more detergents than just SM oils? When it comes to conventional oil the only oil I won't use is GTX due to previous cars all using to much oil...

Wix vs PurOne vs Baldwin Media type?

What kind of filter media are the above 3 running? I was under the impression wix is using a thick cellulose (paper) media, PureOne was using a "micronic" media (what is that?) and I'm not sure about baldwin. Anyone care to comment?

    PL20195 or Wix 1516?

Do we actually know which one of these filters will filter better? I cut a napa gold 1516 open and noticed the bypass valve seats metal on metal... kinda makes me wonder how tight of a seal you have there. But I like the locaion of it, and the coil spring.

    Magnetic Drain Plugs

I just changed the oil in my '09 4.0 Toyota and got a bit ticked the factory didn't put a magnetic drain plug in it. So I ordered one today from these guys: http://www.magneticdrainplugs.com/metric.htm Ended up with the 1040SM. Some kind of super magnet. I've always liked having a magnetic...

    Toyota YZZD3 or Wix 51516?

On my '09 4.0 Tacoma I've narrowed my filter choices down to the factory 90915-YZZD3 Toyota filter OR a Wix 51516. Which do you guys think would be a better choice? Price is about the same, so that's not an issue.

    '09 4.0 V6 Tacoma Calls for 5w-30

Ok, Picked up my new '09 4.0 Taco today. The oil cap clearly states 5w-30. I checked the Owners manual and it states 5w-30 for the 4.0 and 5w-20 for the 4cyl. I thought I read somewhere there was a TSB that said the 4.0 can run 5w-20. But if that's true... then why doesn't my new '09 say...

    4.0L V6 Tacoma Filter Q's

Ok next sat I'm picking up my new '09 tacoma. Normally I am a fan of OEM or Napa Gold (wix) filters. What are most people running on this new toyota engine? Isn't the filter mounted ontop of the engine upside down? I haven't seen the engine bay yet... they had to order my truck. So I know a good...

    2009 Tacoma Q's

Picking up a new 09 4.0L V6 Tacoma this weekend. My plan is to leave the factory oil in there until about 1k miles and do a oil change. Then do the next one 4k later at the 5k mark. And do them every 5k from there on out. Question is do you guys think at 1k it's to early for synthetics? I've...

Motorcraft & Rotella for 6.0 Ford

Thought I'd post my experience with both these oil on my 2007 6.0 with now 18,500 miles. I was running the new CJ4/SM 15-40 Rotella with a Motorcraft oil filter. While running that oil I started noticing hard starting conditions. I had to crank on it longer than I'd like. You'd only notice it on...

    1st Time PP User results

Well we've racked up 5k for the first time on Pennzoil Platinum on the wife's 2006 Suzuki Aerio 2.3L. I remember reading that some folks were saying they had usage issues. We used it from 25k-30k(so far) and the car has not used 1 drop of PP. Stuck with the OEM suggestion of 5w-30. Running a...
