I appreciate all the information. They want to stick primarily to Chevrolet because they've got a fleet of Tahoe's, Suburbans, Silverado's and they feel like parts are more readily available and cheaper. I'm going to try to sway them to expand the possibilities some or I'll just keep the Camry...

I had a 2003 with 5 speed. Had the trans rebuilt at 140k due to bad input shaft bearing. 3 years later at 185k, it was starting to make the same noise. Traded on a 2009 Camry. Other than the trans, airbag computer issue...it was pretty good.

If I switch left front and right front, it does pull the opposite way. It seems that over speed bumps or hitting potholes result in a thud at times AND it makes the steering wheel dart around.

Hope you get over it soon. Not what you wanna hear, but a coworker had it about 10 years ago. It never went away. Some cases are permanent, hope thats not the case with yours.
