Hot engine, hot climate, and rideshare. Burning oil like crazy and need a change. Recommendations?

HAHA I gotchu. Yeah I might just end up purchasing a large socket wrench for this. I laugh because the smoke thing is so relatable. I just cleaned the intake valve with the spray at 2K RPMs method and soak for an hour. I did it overnight so I could hop on my nearest highway and not startle too...

Hot engine, hot climate, and rideshare. Burning oil like crazy and need a change. Recommendations?

Appreciate it, doing my best out here. Also learning to do all this maintenance myself is helping me teach my son. We are doing this together and if I'm caring for it properly it will be his in a few years time. So he'll be ahead of the curve in knowing how to care for his car.

Hot engine, hot climate, and rideshare. Burning oil like crazy and need a change. Recommendations?

Appreciate the input and video. Looks like a simple enough project to start Friday afternoon and able to get back on the road Saturday around lunch time. Doing some research now but might be quicker to ask, what exactly is needed to turn the crankshaft?

Hot engine, hot climate, and rideshare. Burning oil like crazy and need a change. Recommendations?

Was doing 5k, it looks like I'll be dropping it to 3k while I'm riding it hard. Been very weary because we had a 2019 that had it's engine replaced under warranty for excessive consumption and eventual failure. 2019 got totaled but by wife was in love with the Soul so ended up with a 2022 after...

Hot engine, hot climate, and rideshare. Burning oil like crazy and need a change. Recommendations?

Just did so as well (replaced it completely was $10 OEM from manufacturer). Attached is a screenshot of notes I've made for myself regarding maintenance. I'm learning here. 😅

Hot engine, hot climate, and rideshare. Burning oil like crazy and need a change. Recommendations?

I just used Marvel Mystery Oil based on a youtube recommendation and after some research (how I found this forum) and just changed the oil yesterday after work (made us come in to make up for the 4th, such as it is in logistics). Put 5W-30 Valvoline Restore and Protect in. I figured I'd flush it...

Hot engine, hot climate, and rideshare. Burning oil like crazy and need a change. Recommendations?

Eh, times are tough. If I can care for it and keep it alive it's worth it for now. My wife just got out of the hospital (she's been in and out intermittently since the beginning of the year) and missed a bunch of pay when we have no savings. So I'm riding it a little hard right now and it's...

Hot engine, hot climate, and rideshare. Burning oil like crazy and need a change. Recommendations?

So I'm not familiar how much of a difference it makes. Would 10W be better in the summer and then jumping back to 0W when we average 30 degree days? The mechanic that I just had flush my radiator said to turn of ISG if I'm doing rideshare that the startup would wear my engine immensely. I know...

Hot engine, hot climate, and rideshare. Burning oil like crazy and need a change. Recommendations?

Yikes, yes my wife had a 2019 Soul this happened to and they replaced it under warranty. This time around she made sure to bug the dealer every 3k miles. I got 25K left on the warranty with this one.

Hot engine, hot climate, and rideshare. Burning oil like crazy and need a change. Recommendations?

Appreciate the feedback. It seems the consensus is a higher viscosity oil. I'll back off looking at the boutique brands. Think I'm going to go with the Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w-30, and monitor it over the next 2 intervals and up the viscosity if needed.

Hot engine, hot climate, and rideshare. Burning oil like crazy and need a change. Recommendations?

I haven't had a test but the manufacturer tolerance is 1 quart per 1,000 miles. Most recently though I checked at 2,200 miles after a change and I was borderline below the low mark so I'd say it ate up about 3 quarts in that time frame. That was Mobil 1 Advanced 0W-20. I've verified no leaks...

Hot engine, hot climate, and rideshare. Burning oil like crazy and need a change. Recommendations?

Just started doing rideshare with a 2022 Kia Soul Engine: 2.0L MPI. The oil consumption on these things are already ridiculous but I'm now learning to check my oil every other top off at the gas station after my most recent mid interval check was showing near bone dry. I have started doing my...
