    Taurus Tranny surge

My wifes 97 taurus does the same thing, only when cold, once it warms up it is fine, this all started about a year ago and about 1000 miles after a flush, I don't know if it's related but makes me wonder. I talked to a guy at a tranny shop and he said it sounds like the boost valve in the valve...

    Taurus Transmissions

We own a '97 Taurus at 110,000 trouble free miles I decided to have the transmission flushed and filter changed, at 111,000 miles the trans mission wouldn't shift right and slip until it warmed up, we now shift it manually through the gears until it warms up, no problems so far and we are up to...

What's best 2 cycle oil (chainsaws, trimmers, etc)

I use Klotz synthetic snowmobile oil in my weedwacker and chain saw, if you have ever used Klotz you know it has that nitro racey smell to it, so it makes those unpleasent chores just a little more fun.

    Zaino Brothers

I too have had great results with Zaino products, I live in a state where they use lots of salt, calcium, horse pi$$, and anything else to melt snow and ice, I put on Z-1& 2 in the fall and spring and it holds up great through the winter, I also hit it with their gloss enhancer a few times. One...

    Another M1 question

On bottles of both Mobil 1 ATF and gear lube it states, full synthetic " exclusive of carrier oil " what does this mean? it's not 100 % synthetic ?

    Special GM grease

My 2002 GMC Sierra makes a clunk when it shifts into second gear, (auto tranny), I am taking it back to the dealer (who says it sounds normal) and this might be how they fix it, with grease?

    Questions on synthetic ATF

Has anyone used Redline ATF ? there is another post on this site claiming it's made from group V base stock and meets Dexron IV specs, could anyone comment on the potential benefits of this or would the M1 or Amsoil work just as good ? like all Redline products it isn't cheap, thanks.

    Questions on synthetic ATF

Thanks for the reply, the problem post I mentioned had to do with trannys slipping after using syn atf and one was a GM truck, I can go back and try to find it, I know synthetics are superior products, I use M1 in the engine, I just wanted some more info on ATF.

    Questions on synthetic ATF

I want to put synthetic ATF in my 2002 GMC truck, either Mobil 1 or Amsoil, but I have had some doubts recently after reading some post about syn atf causing problems, can the experts please comment on this? I tow a trailer with my truck and we are coming into the summer monthes so this is the...

    NAPA Gold vs. Mobil 1

How about K&N filters they seem to flow well and should filter better than wix according to the info given on their web sites?

o..van needs a tranny change me lost book

Sorry, I guess I don't know my Mercury's that well, you are 100% right about it being Nissan drive train, I still recommend the flush but disregard the other stuff I said.

o..van needs a tranny change me lost book

Isn't the Villager the same as a Windstar? it will have either an AX4N or AX4S Ford built tranny, I don't think there is a drain plug you have to drop the pan and and it fills through the dipstick tube, it's a messy job, a total fluid change or flush is the best way, if you go this route make...

Mobil 1 for new Chevy 5.3 engine?

I have an '02 GMC with the 5.3L and running 5w30 Mobil 1, I burn 1/2 qt. in 6000 miles, not bad in my book.
  19. B

    Which Mobil 1grade?

5w30 is the recommended weight for that engine, that is what I use in my 5.3 GMC, check out my UOA I only used 1/2 qt. in 6000 miles on a new engine, I didn't think that was to bad.

    Mobil 1 5w30 @ 6000 mi.

Thanks for the warm welcome all, yes I do let the truck idle alot in the winter to warm up, I know it will cause a little extra wear on the engine but I know some transmission guys that say taking right off in extreme cold temps. is very hard on automatic trannys, so you have to weigh the two...
