Buy Oil Now! - per Lake Speed Jr

I bought 2 containers of Ultra Platinum on sale at Walmart, so I'm good for my next two oil changes (y)

Realistically, nothing. I planned on running it for 3-4 changes but I couldn't pass up the Pennzoil on sale.

Nice! I miss my 3.1 Malibu, just got rid of it a year ago with 217k.

Are your driving plans changing due to fuel costs?

I only drive around 8k miles per year so I am not worrying much about it. I do find myself trying to stack multiple trips into a single one when possible, but I did that before. I usually get 5c to 15c off per gallon with fuel points on my fill-ups every 10-15 days which helps slightly.

    Oil extraction is great!

Used my cheap Amazon extractor for the first time last month - especially for top mounted oil filter cars, I'll never go back. Though I didn't remove the drain plug to check, it removed 4.86 quarts out of 5.0 so it's safe to say it got the job done (y)

    Walmart Pennzoil Rollback Deal

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum is currently $26.49 at Walmart, and Platinum/Platinum High Mileage is $23.37: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Pennzoil-Ultra-Platinum-Full-Synthetic-0W-20-Motor-Oil-5-Quart/772029221 My local store had it for the same price as online. Purchased two 5qt containers earlier, was...

Where do you typically find your filters on a sale?

Rock Auto. I purchased a half-dozen Purolator One's on closeout a while back at $5/each including shipping costs ($3.70 or something like that before shipping). It would be hard to find a better filter at that price, you just have to purchase quite a few (plus wipers or air filters if needed) to...

2010 Chevy Cobalt 2.2L, 80k miles, Factory Fill GM Dexron VI ATF

Funny you mention that, I almost bought a replacement Dorman with the drain plug, but didn't bother. I may change it again in 20k and change to the Dorman pan.

2010 Chevy Cobalt 2.2L, 80k miles, Factory Fill GM Dexron VI ATF

If I keep the car long term, I plan on it. I will probably change it again at 20k, so it's at an even 100k, and swap to the Dorman with the drain plug. Very true, my first car went 217k on (what I think was) the original ATF 😅

2010 Chevy Cobalt 2.2L, 80k miles, Factory Fill GM Dexron VI ATF

Purchased the car with 66k miles around a year and a half ago, just got around to changing out the factory ATF. When pulling off the pan, the bottom of the pan was coated in a dark black film that had a slimy consistency. I cleaned that off, along with the magnets, but decided to send a sample...
