    Valvoline Restore and Protect ATF

Update on my 2016 Chevy Cruze LT at ~94.5k miles (5K in) for those following along - Not much to report other than it is still about 80-90% better than it was. Torque converter lockup issue that appeared around 800 miles in for a short period at low RPM has gone away. Light to full throttle...

    Valvoline Restore and Protect ATF

3K (92.5K) mile update on my 2017 Chevy Cruze after 1 drain/fill (58% change) - Last update I mentioned an issue cropping up where the torque converter failed to lock up in 3rd gear at idle under 2K RPM. That issue was happening consistently and has resolved itself within the last 500 miles...

    Valvoline Restore and Protect ATF

Didn't want to be bothered with checking and the mess (it has a fill level plug that is supposed to leak) and so filled to the previous temperature-equal capacity instead of using it. My guess is that it's probably / was already overfilled, but who knows. Soon I'll do another drain fill and if...

    Valvoline Restore and Protect ATF

Yes - if I weren't watching the tachometer like a hawk, I wouldn't even notice this issue. Any application of throttle and it grabs again and it's only in that one gear at low RPM (sub 2K). Beyond that, light acceleration / hard acceleration / downshifts are all fine / better.

    Valvoline Restore and Protect ATF

2K mile update on my 2016 Cruze LT (91.5k) after 58% drain and fill from original ATF, only because it's notable: Since ~800 miles in, only in 3rd gear at low speed (20-25 mph) the torque converter doesn't stay locked up off throttle and RPM falls when coasting. All shifts are clean and I...

    eBay Brake pads

Up here in Ohio, my DD gets whatever the cheapest ceramics and cheapest rotors are available on Rock Auto. Even good high carbon coated rotors can only last so long through Ohio winters. Once the pads are toast or the rotors are pulsing bad enough, it gets a new set. Today, for my 2016 Cruze...

    Valvoline Restore and Protect ATF

Regardless of the heated debate regarding OCIs in an ATF thread (hey, I posted about the oil too), I appreciate that their product support teams have been given these more detailed explanations to provide to folk who are curious. Seems like exactly what I expected. In this case, it seems...

    Valvoline Restore and Protect ATF

It was absolutely toast - I bought the car used at 47K and it probably needed it then. The Cruze Gen 2 has the 6T35 instead of the Gen 1 6T40, probably even worse. That said, I barely drove (worked from home, no kids) post-covid for several years (other miles being put on my Focus RS), and an ex...

    Valvoline Restore and Protect ATF

Another update at ~400 miles - Had a hardly noticeable slip early in a drive cycle in 3rd about 100 miles in ~20 degree weather. Nothing really noticeable since. I would say in total it is subjectively 90% better which is great considering the amount of fluid exchanged. While clutch wear is...

    Valvoline Restore and Protect ATF

Update on my 2016 Chevrolet Cruze LT: Drained 5 1/4 qts from sump today at 89.5K miles (58% fluid exchange). Old fluid was dark silver, looked disgusting. Initial 30 miles - shifts are faster (very noticeably faster), smoother, and all slippage I had previously noticed is completely gone right...

    Valvoline Restore and Protect ATF

Just received my order of 3 gallons. I have a 2016 Chevy Cruze LT at 88.5K miles that has never had an ATF flush or drain. In our cold Ohio weather, I noticed a lagging shift from 2nd to 3rd under moderate acceleration, and some slipping in 2nd/3rd/5th on the way to work around -10 to 10F...
