I didn't fire him, but it did make me mad since I had to pay out the extra money for oil I had sitting there. I managed to overfill by 3 or 4qts.... since I couldn't get the bolt off i took it to the nearest shop so I did risk running it to long. that was some time ago but its a lesson I wont...
I saw a video of also making a tool out of paracord to remove the filter, was half tempted as I have alot of paracord. I'm in south east TN (south of Knoxville) I live in a townhouse but as long as I don't make to big of a mess and don't leave it sitting for to long I'm good to go. In the past...
Sadly I don't have anyone, in the past I tried to get involved with some older car clubs but still couldn't find anyone to help teach me things. I've tried to get my step-dad to help me through video call, but he hates my truck so always says no.
I thought about that, but the reviews from the one advance auto has made me worry.

I have a 1988 Ford Ranger 2.0L and I’ve been running 10-30 full synthetic for as long as I’ve had the truck. The last time it went to the mechanic he put in 10-30 conventional without asking me (also had a brand new unopened bottle on the back). I’m kind of scarred now to trust anyone else...
Timing belt just got replaced it’s new, I had a cover but it was cracked and several mechanical advised me to remove it. I haven’t had the money to replace it.
Yesterday I went to use my truck and it had an off sound to it, and was told it sounds like a pulley bearing. I’ve never messed with my belts before so I’m finding myself a bit nervous about what to do. My mechanic is out of town for the week and I’m being told it’s easy….. I’m not sure how to...
I really want to thank @repairman54 it was around 35F today when I went to start the truck, I gave it a couple of pumps then did the slow release and the truck started first turn over. I think I went into shock. I have lived around clutch vehicles. and have several mechanics in the family and...
I know its a bit warm outside 40F ish but I did open my hood and checked the choke after trying the way I normally do (didn't work, anyone surprised?) and then I tried the slow release mentioned by repairman54 and it closed on the first try, truck started after 2 short turn overs! I'm hoping...
Ugh, I wish you lived near me. I’ve been trying to find someone to teach me, I’m not good learning through books. Even went to a few classic car met ups, but no one is interested. I’ll give the slow release a try, it’s something I haven’t tried yet.
Haha today the temp is decent, but we will drop again tomorrow, as long as I can still get my hood open (ice expected) I’ll see if the carb closes while everything is cold. It’s always just the first start, after that the truck never has issues.
