    Post your latest oil change

Good to know, thanks! And yes, so far this car seems to be easy on oil as well. Been very pleased with the car as a whole, honestly. Getting another CVT fluid change in 5,000 miles 🙏🏼

cost effective oil for 2022 F-150 3.5L EB

It’s had Amsoil in it since around ~28k miles. It’s not a “money thing” per se, as it is me just trying to maximize “bang for the buck”. My dad has not said anything to prompt this effort and honestly, had I not learned of the current issues with Champ/FB filters, we probably wouldn’t be even...

cost effective oil for 2022 F-150 3.5L EB

Apologies, he lives in north AL. And that’s the plan! Trans, diffs, and t-case at 50k miles.

cost effective oil for 2022 F-150 3.5L EB

Yep, I should’ve stated we have been going with 5k OCI and plan to keep it that way. Thanks!

cost effective oil for 2022 F-150 3.5L EB

That’s actually a great point, and you’re right. But, if he’s trusting me to take care of him, I think I owe it to him to do my due diligence to research what products I’m using in his truck. Plus, I just like to continue to learn for my own benefit.

cost effective oil for 2022 F-150 3.5L EB

Based on feedback/recommendations thus far, I’m leaning towards the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, though I must admit the suggested Quaker State seems like a compelling option, I am just not as familiar with their products other than I know they’ve been around a long long time.

cost effective oil for 2022 F-150 3.5L EB

He’s 6’7 and has daily driven a full size truck for 25 years, going to a car is not an option, at least not one that he’s willing to go with. Thanks for your input 👍🏼

cost effective oil for 2022 F-150 3.5L EB

I help my dad out with maintenance on his truck (2022 F150 Platinum 3.5 Ecoboost w/ ~42k miles) and I’ve been servicing it with AMSOIL Signature Series 5w30 and EA filter for the past year. However, since joining on here and going down the various rabbit holes and thinking through how he uses...

    2025 5.3/L84 Advice

Wow, that’s very reassuring! What made you land on the 5w-40 if you don’t mind me asking? And what oil filter? I’m really in between 0w-30 and 0w-40 I think, but my mind is not totally made up. I know my plan of 5k mile OCI is overkill….

    2025 5.3/L84 Advice

After doing some more reading on various previous threads on here, I’m now leaning towards going with SS 0w-30 as a “happy medium” of sorts.. thoughts?

    2025 5.3/L84 Advice

Never said there was anywhere officially calling for the L84 to run 0w-40… And no links on the 25-26’s, just have seen more than a handful of posts in the Tahoe/Yukon and Silverado/Sierra groups I’m in with engine failures and being left stranded on vacations, etc.

    2025 5.3/L84 Advice

Not FF to my knowledge, but the recall released in April of this year called for an inspection followed by a viscosity change from 0w-20 to 0w-40 on 21-24 L87’s. Though the engine failure issues have been seen to affect 25-26 models as well.

Sounds like I need to research Mobil 0w-40 vs AMSOIL Signature Series 0w40…

    2025 5.3/L84 Advice

Thanks! I’m typically a “Ford guy”, but the the equivalently optioned F150 to this was ~$10-12k more, so figured I’d give the GMC a try. But yeah, sticking with OE spec oil for warranty purposes is probably the smart thing to do… 🫠

    2025 5.3/L84 Advice

I’m not opposed to going with 5w-30, I was just going with the mindset of if 0w-40 was what was now recommended for the L87’s, it should be what I consider for my L84. I will admit that I am a bit apprehensive of running a viscosity that’s different than OEM spec while I’m under warranty, but...

    2025 5.3/L84 Advice

Hello all! I’ve been a lurker of BITOG for at least a decade, though my recent membership says otherwise. A little background on me, I’ve owned 35+ vehicles over the last 16 years, but I’m working on making that a thing of the past and keep my vehicles long term. Even with my excessive amount of...
