    Subaru STi Syncro/Gear oil Conundrum!

All I was trying to do was give the box the protection Subaru wants, while adding just enough traction to the synchros for a well behaved STi box. And it lasts for a very long time, especially on newer cars that are done breaking in and it's time to drain all the poopoo and stop further wear as...

    Subaru STi Syncro/Gear oil Conundrum!

Being a 22 year mechanic and a Subaru only specialist since 2005 and use Amsoil, I have found a mix that works extremely well. Total fill is 4.35 qts. I use 3 qts. of Amsoil FGR, and the remaining 1.35qt. I use Amsoil MTF. Subaru chose to use a fluid that protects the gear teeth over the...

    Gun Butter... any good?

I could even mix a custom fluid. Start with a high VI ester, add a tackifier (sp?), something like polyisobutane to make it stay put, a pour point depressant, etc. I have greases here from McLube that are a pao base with a large concentration of moly and zinc ( http://mclube.com/products/84 )...

    Gun Butter... any good?

Yes, it has extreme pressure agents that conditions the metal to leave a film behind.

    Gun Butter... any good?

You willing to meet at the range and try GunButter Tempest? I can bring a large assortment of other cleaners and lubes to compare them against GB.

    Gun Butter... any good?

Also being in Vegas, I would be more than happy to get you some as well. I actually go though a lot of it at the Clark co. public range, after they TRY the fluid. That thickness of film is with the metal conditioned and the "peaks / troughs " contain GunButter. After using normal and HDEO's, it...

    Gun Butter... any good?

Let me ask you this. Would you spend $3000+ on a pistol, or $8000 on a rife, or $100,000+ on a Purdey over/under shotgun? IMHO, it's a matter of context. Some people do not care what things cost. My personal GunButter bottle is 4oz.

    Gun Butter... any good?

I would be more than happy to send you a sample. Yes there is an NSN, however I would have to get that from the owner, it's just one of the lubes I sell, and am not privy to a lot of information without asking. The flash and pour points are just generally stated on the website, and I have asked...

I have dealt with conditions like Kuwait and Iraq, and live in Las Vegas, where there is almost a constant breeze blowing a baby powder fine dust into the Valley those lubes do not cut it. I have worked on too many firearms that were lubed with Remoil,Hoppes etc and it's a nightmare at times. At...

what are you using for personal defense ammo?

Oh, by the way. I carry heavy for caliber HST's in all auto pistols and DPX in the 357 mag. Backed with multiple mags of the same thing. 5.56 would be 75 grain open tip FDP TAP, backed or replaced with Federal URBAN soft tips in-doors. I also fear over penetration at home. The 6.8 would be 110...

what are you using for personal defense ammo?

124gr. Federal HST 9mm+p., Ranger T 9mm +p+ ( I like this round, but have had several full pass throughs with zero expansion until it hit the cement at the bottom of our testing tank), Corbon DPX, 124 gr Gold Dot,and at the far right is a Critical defense. ( IIRC all were 124gr. ) The Federal...

    My three jams, OK four

I practice with snap caps randomly loaded into mags by my partner or another shooter. I have no idea when, where or if there will be an issue. In the worst case I would wait 30 sec or so in case of a squibb, safely clear the firearm, re holster it, and draw a backup. Luckily using the quality of...

    Best gun oil?

I have recently been introduced 'FrogLube" by the guys at the Sig academy. They rave about it and I have heard that new Sigs come with a sample of it, and no longer TW-25b Stuff is made from food grade items and smells like wintergreen. Seems to work very well.

    Be CAREFUL folks.....wowser........

This is why I carry a large military pack with me to the range. There are a ton of supplies, but above all, a REAL battlefield trauma pack w/quick clot. I consider it a mobile hospital. I have the supplies and all the instructions needed to deal with a lot of things, especially firearm wounds...
