    Motorcraft FL910s 17,671 Miles, M1 0w20ep

No sample collected for a UOA, not concerned enough to buy one. I'd bet rust or icy roads will be the death of this truck long before anything mechanical. Still runs like new, 31MPG on summer gas, 29 on winter blend. (yes, I drive conservatively) No oil ever added between changes. OCI's in my...

    Motorcraft FL910s 17,671 Miles, M1 0w20ep

After seeing the concern about Purolator filters tearing, I cut open the filter I removed from my truck yesterday. No issues noted--I couldn't find any tears putting gentle pressure on the pleats. Very little debris between pleats. This one has the round holes in the center tube and 8 holes in...

Bent Snapper 17168 20-1/2" Mower Blade

Oregon aftermarket blades for some Toro commercial mowers have the same profile when new. Not sure about the OEM for the Toro.

Would you buy a Fram if it had metal endcaps?

I have nothing against the cardboard endcaps, but I am particular about a threaded-end bypass, so that eliminates a lot of filters for me.

What is your air filter change interval?

I changed mine for the first time at ~65,000 miles. I never even looked at it before then, and it could have gone back in, but for the pain it was to get out, the new one I had on hand went in.

    Changing rear axle pinion seal

My Ranger allowed the seal to be changed and the pinion nut re-torqued to a much lower value (60ft-lb, I believe) without disassembling the diff. As far as I could find, this was a factory service manual procedure.

    Thoughts on Dewalt DC500 vacuum

I've had one for a few years (at least 5) and still love it. Not nearly the suciton of a pure 120v shopvac, but plenty for around-the-house work. I really like the Gore(?) filter that comes with it--water just won't go through it. Very easy to clean and dries in a few minutes. I haven't used it...

Makita BHX2500CA Commercial Grade 4-Stroke Blower

I have two commercial quality, full-crank 4 strokes (actually, same engine, different trimmer parts): Ryobi(MTD) 1079r, Redmax BCX-2600s. Both run very smoothly and it's great to be able to run low rpm for delicate work without fouling plugs, dribbling oil out the exhaust, or building up carbon...

    wen 2hp 800watt generator

Assuming it's still not running, check the crank seals, particularly the one between the engine and generator (you should be able to see it through the ventilation slots.) I have had two of these generators fail when the entire seal is pushed out of place and just hangs on the shaft. One was low...

    2003 honda aquatrax 1200 turbo

I've run mostly Rotella Synthetic 5w40 in mine, but also Delo 15w40, M1 15w50, and amsoil 5w40 european car formula. No noticable difference with any of them, and no problems either.

    Dilemma solved

This is what a stock mulch fan looks like: http://www.lawnmowerpros.com/prodimages/55555.jpg The stock blade is like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Oregon-21-Inch-612543-683682-92-011/dp/B0009T89JQ I believe that blade was modified to to be a "shredder" blade like a Gator blade--either for...

    Dilemma solved

That's not like any stock lawnboy blade I've had. It looks like the previous owner cut slots into the stock blade and bent the ends up a bit. The smaller blade welded on is NOT stock. There is a stock 4 blade mulch fan that sits between the nut and the blade, but it is a separate piece. I'd be a...

Use Mystic JT-4 Ultra High Performance 2 cyl oil?

I'd preferr Sea and Snow as it is actually JASO certified and appears on their list of approved oils. Having a hard time swallowing the shipping charges ordering it online. If my friend doesn't get it for me next week I will order some and have it shipped.

Use Mystic JT-4 Ultra High Performance 2 cyl oil?

I wish I could find this locally. I used-to be able to buy Citgo Sea and Snow for ~$16/gallon, but now that I amout I've found that there is no way to purchase FD rated oil locally without spending a fortune. Luckily a friend is going to Effingham, IL over thanksgiving and will bring me a back a...

2-Stroke mix ratio for '91 snowblower

Here's how I interpert all this: Oils that are blended to a standard--TCW3, ISO-EGD/JasoFD, etc. will all be about the same. A 50:1 with brandA will be about the same as 50:1 brandB, same for 32:1, 16:1, etc. The engine manufacturers give the mix ratio needed with an oil that meets a...

    Blue Ford oval paint

The emblems on my 2009 Ranger are falling apart--a clear layer is peeling off and the blue is fading to white. Pretty sad that ford can't spend a few more cents to have their logo look good for more than a couple of years!

Oil for Ryobi 30cc 4 Cycle?

I gave a friend a quart of VR1 Synthetic 20w50 from the free after rebate earlier this year. It should be a lifetime supply for his blower! In my Ryobi/Redmax commercial 26cc 4 strokes I've run straight 30, 5,0,10w-30 synthetic, Rotella 5w40, Amsoil 20w50, and T5 10w30 and couldn't tell any...
