New Carquest EP 20k Filter C&P

I personally just rather use the typical o ring style. I even drive a Hyundai that can prob benefit the most from a p style, if it has higher tolerance for pressure. And even if the plate would bend limiting scaring, I don't trust shops (I can't do my own change) at all.

New Carquest EP 20k Filter C&P

I too don't like the idea of it getting marred up, scratched up. It very likely won't hurt, like you said it's outside the gasket. But I don't think anyone enjoys that idea. It's likely a non issue if the p seal is installed correctly and not over tightened, but who wants to hope the shop does that

New Carquest EP 20k Filter C&P

Ty very much for that info!! *I'm thinking to myself* I bring my oil change to a shop....just another thing I'll worry about if they tighten the p ring gasket enough, and basically flush to the block...ugh. I can't change my own oil so it's another thing the shops can mess up on

New Carquest EP 20k Filter C&P

My CQ also is a p style gasket. Any input if one is superior than the other usual flat style? Why would they change it to a p style; most filters are flat. I'm just wondering if any knowledge can be shared about it. I myself can't think of if it matters. But if the p style has less material...

Safe to use PG on Hyundai/ Kia? Any alternatives?

Hehe thanks for the info with your Hyundai forums experience. Reassuring, I as well will call it a non issue. And I hope the best about that pig from a tornado!

Safe to use PG on Hyundai/ Kia? Any alternatives?

I'd be fine using that. I'm just thinking many man and Hummel filters bypass leak, with their leaf springs

Safe to use PG on Hyundai/ Kia? Any alternatives?

I doubt it's a very important issue, if it was it would be very widely known. I'm not losing sleep over it. The m1 is a hair thicker than some pgs is my only reasoning.

Safe to use PG on Hyundai/ Kia? Any alternatives?

There is some talk about the bulletin from PG years back, talking about using its filters on some Hyundais and Kias. There is a thread here discussing it, however no real new info, which I'm sure is the case. PG would of taken down the bulletin if they were confident their filters could...

What filter is considered best now?

AutoZone uses diff suppliers for their stp line. Could be champ made...not good Otherwise it's a typical pgi filter. Like the many they make it has inlet holes instead of louvers. The bad stp drain holes are more oval, compared to the pgi circle. It's usually just easier to get a car quest or...

What filter is considered best now?

Careful with the stp xl. My AutoZone, have three here, all carry the bad ones. You'd have to open the box to make sure it's the good ones, like a typical pg filter

MicroGard Select MSL10255 PG-made center tube contamination

We're all pretty heavily into our oils here, I'm not a fan of that. Mostly it's probably no issue, but the idea itches the mind. Potentially mixing with the oil to have undesirable effects esp the dust

MicroGard Select MSL10255 PG-made center tube contamination

I tried several filters kinda recent. Almost, the majority had some kind of residual, grease, metal etc

Video - Engineering Explained, Do Thin Oils Destroy Engines?

I'm not terribly knowledgeable with all this. But my manual says no 40 weight for the 2.4gdi. heaviest is 30 is my main reason. It kinda gets hot where I'm at, is a thought of mine using pup, so just hoping the best. I used 5w20 all its life and still blew up, with this new engine I'll try 30, I...

Video - Engineering Explained, Do Thin Oils Destroy Engines?

That's exactly where I'm at with my gdi 2012 Hyundai. Already replaced the engine recently, apparently wasn't rod issues, was the camshaft or crank, I forgot which. I'm going to stick with pup, the manual calls for 5w20 or 5w30; and I sorta hear pup can shear slightly faster than others. So I'll...
