non-Top Tier fuel + Techron every 5k miles vs. Top Tier all the time?

Two different purposes. Periodic cleaning or continuous. Like you would get at a Chevron station.

non-Top Tier fuel + Techron every 5k miles vs. Top Tier all the time?

I know. That's the point. Instead of 12 oz into "up to 21 gallons," which can also mean 12 gallons or less in some cars, I'm trying to approximately replicate what I could get at with a Chevron station fuel. Not sure where you get your "recommended dose," number, or your "Minimum...

PEA Concentrations at the Gas Pump

Uh...Puerto Rico IS part of the US. Second, I've not seen a Gulf station here in many years, although I may have passed one or two and not remembered. Living in CA, CO, FL, TX and of course various road trips through other states. None in the NW or NE.

PEA Concentrations at the Gas Pump

Almost two years later, a correction: The Techron bottles are 12 fl oz, not 20.

non-Top Tier fuel + Techron every 5k miles vs. Top Tier all the time?

Makes sense. I've just burned a tank of non ethanol gas with a bottle of Techron. From here, I'll either fill at Qwik Trip or add Techron at fill ups elsewhere. I took an empty 6 oz plastic bottle that held Lucas, I think. I mixed Techron and Marvel Mystery Oil 1:1. The MMO is just to...

non-Top Tier fuel + Techron every 5k miles vs. Top Tier all the time?

Other than a rare, few rural stations, all gas stations are busy.

Most PEA Bang For Your Buck

Yes, I realize that there is a lot of varying facts for the same product on the various MSDS's and SDS's. As you say, still floating around, nothing dies on the internet. I don't know if you looked at the one for the Techron High Mileage. On the SDS that I saw and used, it had a nice narrow...

Your numbers for percent of PEA is far greater than what any of them claim on the SDS's. And for the sake of simplicity and comparing apples to apples, my pricing was from one source.

Help me choose a racing oil

My suggestion is Castrol R. YES, I am joking. But nothing smells better. I remember going to the 12 hours of Sebring in the mid 1960's. I bullshitted my way into getting press passes which allowed me and my friend to get into the pits with my car and a rented camper trailer and right next to...

I like your thoughtful, measured response. Heck, I might try it. Will let you and the thread know what happens if I do so.

Don't put words in my mouth. I indicated it was a last resort, because there are lots of people who have gotten significant mileage gains with PEA additives, like 1-3 mpg depending on many factors, of course. Of course I don't expect magic for $15, but it is certainly worth the experiment.

Most PEA Bang For Your Buck

I'm just starting to learn about the Duratec line. I don't think the 3.7 is any bigger than the 3.0 I'm thinking the difference is in FWD or RWD. In the latter, plenty of room to hang a water pump. The water pump is sort of weird. It uses two o-ring type seals to fit against the block. A...

Most PEA Bang For Your Buck

How can you say that? I explained my methodology; if there's a flaw in it, I am all ears. But if it was reasonable, I showed a huge difference in cost per ounce, almost 2:1.

Most PEA Bang For Your Buck

All those matter, but they can't account for the drastic loss of mileage without throwing a code. Otherwise, it's just throwing parts at the problem and hoping something fixes it. Compression test is interesting, but the Car Fax shows that the oil was changed regularly at a Valvoline place...

I addressed this in my research considerations. One has to start somewhere, so an average it is.

It's the exact opposite. The worst value. Numbers don't lie.

The SDS on some of them actually say PEA. Techron doesn't, but it's obvious that "Proprietary" is PEA.

Temperature is perfect. Even if not, it would never impact fuel mileage to the degree I'm experiencing.
