The good old days when operating systems and computing wasn't an ad ridden cesspool and getting pushed towards less privacy and pushing for AI.
But I digress, lol.
Go to an AAP and pick up Carquest Premiums instead, they're fully loaded and cost 10 bucks. 99.5% @ 20microns, Silicone ADBV and O-ring, no silly louvers that can possibly not be fully open, just open holes in the center tube.
I normally use SPEEDiagnostix, but his prices are getting a little out of hand with the price increase and the shipping costs. I'm considering switching to Amsoil's oil analysis, it's slightly less than half the cost of Speed's and it would mean a one stop shop for me since I already use...
I had BFG KO3s on my 2500 before I traded it in, they are awesome tires. A little noisy, but they kicked ass. When Texas had that bad ice storm in January, I was driving just fine on the highway at 50ish when I got off my night shifts at work.
Why? Because you know a single individual that supposedly destroyed an engine not using the correct oil without disclosing if it was a change in grade or the oil spec required?
My last LZ0 averaged 8.6ppm of wear metals using Amsoil's 5W-30 synthetic diesel oil changing at 5k miles. I'd definitely suggest going up to at least a 5W-30.
I'll be using their Euro AFL 5W-40 for a couple oil changes and see how it does.
I'm open to running any oil that will keep wear down and can extend engine life. I'm not necessarily brand loyal, but I usually run HPL or Amsoil. I wouldn't mind trying out something like Delo or Delvac. I just don't want to run the 0W-20 the factory calls for, I was considering my leftover HPL...
That's what I was thinking as well, I figured I'd ask a crowd of more knowledgeable people than me before I pulled the trigger. I'll just try to sell it and go right to the AFL.
I recently traded in my 2500 gasser and went back to the babymax. I still have a couple oil changes worth of HPL's 5W-40 Euro oil and was wondering if it would be alright to use it for my early break-in oil changes, no more than 1k miles.
It's ACEA A3/B4 and Porsche A40 spec'd. I know B4 is...
No, low viscosity oil is more of a chase for a 1% more fuel economy per vehicle for CAFE purposes than anything. Engines today are built with very tight bearing clearances, yet engines in something like a Corvette will still recommend 0W-40 or 5W-50. What you use the engine for, how hot it's...
