Sounds like it has the XREAS suspension (red shocks). The high quote is in line with a 4 corner replacement of that system. That said, you can replace it with conventional shocks (ie, much cheaper).

A few years ago, I had a guy order a (new Denso) starter for me from WorldPac. Even with him adding a few $$ for himself, it was cheaper than anywhere else and I got it that day (vs waiting for shipping).

I ended up buying a made-in-Japan NPW pump and swapped it today. 40k miles on the Aisin. Very disappointed in the Aisin. @JeffKeryk

MS250 owner here. The 250 is notorious for hard starting. I'd recommend getting one of the other Stihl models with their easy start.
