    Torque Converter Fluid Only?

Hi & Thanks all.At my age(99),just thought I'd not go for another atx pan drop. If,I jack up the van's rear wheels, will it drain out more fluid by the TC drain plug? I might put off the big pan drop til next year, when the van hits 70K,and I hit 100!

    Torque Converter Fluid Only?

Hi, My '99 E150/4.2L just reached 60K,and I was thinking of just replacing the Torque Converter fluid(easy deal). The pan/filter was done at 25K along with the TC.The Mercon-V still looks good, and it shifts fine.Is it worth it or not?I'm not found of the power flush routine. Thanks. Ron

    5W-20 question

Hi,Just moved from South Florida to Northern New Mexico. I've been using Motorcraft 5W-20 in my '03 Ford Focus/28K miles. The hills and heat(summer)put quite a strain along with the ac on the little 4-cylinder.The local Wal-Mart is selling this oil for under $10/5-quart jug.The price is lower...

    1967 Triumph TR4

Hi,My first ride in '66 was a '64 TR-4.As I recall(or don't)I put straight 30wt or 10w40 or whatever Castrol was available. The old 4 banger was an english tractor motor, me thinks? What a blast racing my friend in his '57 Chevy at over 100mph.I won with one hand on the wheel. He was all but out...

    Oil Change after Deep Creep?

Hi,Thanks all.I've also read that the IAC(idle air control on TB)could be a problem. Maybe it's sensitive to certain solvents, like Deep Creep.Maybe,Maybe,I'll pass on the idea for now.It ain't broke yet!

    Oil Change after Deep Creep?

Hi, I just tried Sea Foam on my '99 Ford 4.2L E150 with 50K miles. It did not smoke at all!?Now,I'd like to spray some Deep Creep(have it)in the TB intake. The thing is I just changed the plugs/wires & oil. Can I safely use the Deep Creep and not change the oil(M1/5-40) or affect the new plugs...

Changing the oil without the filter?

Hi, I just recall my VW BUGs in the 60's with NO filters, and changing oil every other weekend. It was a good time to adjust the valves! Now, with my Ford Focus, and 1-2K intervals, I'll pass on the hard to snatch Filter every other time. It's OK to get lazy and still sleep nights.

Mobil 1 5W-40 "Truck/SUV" at local Kragen autoparts

Hi, Will D1 still come out ahead of the new M1 for shear stability in 5K range?Like my wife asks,to do the laundry, should one use Tide,All or brandX.I say no,use Delvac-1.We speak the same language now, meaninglessness.A frighteningly weird picture is the little mom whipping about in her big...

How often do ya'll change your oil filter

Hi, I'm doing alot of very short trips(blocks not miles)and with only 3-4K miles/yr,I plan to change the 5W-20 oil('03 Focus SE)at 4-months and the filter at 8-months.The filter change is no fun on the Focus.

What do you use to wipe your dipstick?

I wipe my stick with whatever is in my pocket at the moment.Or,just pull out the pocket liner and wipe once. That'll do it.It's just oil.

Does time matter when the oil is still clean?

What about the short-short haul, like a few blocks with start/stop,& just a few thousand miles/year.We seldom get the 10+mile run to burn off .I'm using Pennzoil 5w-20 in a 03 Focus in hot city driving. To combat the acid/condensation problem,I was going to drain the pan every 4/months,and change...

    Delvac1

HI,Yes the Syntec 5w-50 was sampled just a week after the summer trip(5,600).As Blackstone pointed out, the increased wear #s probably come from the 5-months of basic inactivity prior to sampling the oil. Thanks Al,& all for the comments.I'll try D1 again for the summer 5K(overkill or not).I'd...

Castrol Syntec 5w-50, my mechanic says...

Hi,Just looked for the UOA link on Syntec 5w-50 from Blackstone(8/02),but could not find it. Anyway, The report had good numbers for 5-6K miles on a '99-Ford E150 Van/4.2L six. After running D1 in a similar scenerio,we'll see how it compares.

    Objectivity and Delvac 1

Hi,I expect to get UOA on D-1 from my '99 Ford E150 Van,4.2L six gasser(5K/7 months),in January. That's to compare with a UOA on Syntec 5w-50. If we were all in a bar, the OIL would be flying! Ofcourse, some would be drinking it anyway. Bottoms up!
