Not true in all cases. Honda had to extend warranty for oil burning 2010-2012 MDX’s and rebuilt a lot of engines.

Look at my recent thread re the EPR treatment I did to my 2010 Acura MDX…cheap, easy and extremely effective. One qt per 4K is nothing to worry about according to Honda. They say up to 1qt per 1k is normal.

Update. Has been 6 weeks and 540 miles (all short tripping) since I did two EPR treatments back to back with some hard driving in between. Kicked in VTEC for first time ever. Scared the bejesus out of me. Oil looks great with just a slight discoloration and have not burned a drop. Before...

Thx Invisible. You are correct…I am not concerned about warranty. You and kschachn answered my question. No mechanical/design requirements driving 0W16.

Are there any reasons other than fuel economy to use 0W16? Just wondering if the engine design (bearings, rings, etc) require it for adequate lubrication. Thanks.

Just bought a 2024 Venza so started reading about 0w16. Data shows TGMO has high moly, no doubt about that. Someone stated that moly comes in different forms, some more effective than others. Contention is low moly M1 is just as effective as high moly TGMO. Is there data that proves this theory?

I just bought a set of Acura OEM that were Akebono.

Seems to be a lot of positive experience with piston soak. I have EPR on order so will do that first. If clogged oil rings are the problem, I should see some improvement. Based on results I will do piston soak. On a V6, how do you get B12 around entire circumference? I do not have a leak down...

The engine restore guru on MDX forum starts with Liquid Moly 2037 on old oil for 20 minute idle, then start EPR on clean oil and fresh filter. He also adds EPR to hot oil. I am sure BG has a good reason for recommending cold oil, will find out tomorrow.
