Amsoil EA Filters 2022 vs 2024

I agree- regardless of how the relief is formed or de-formed though, It still fits better and may leak less, than the newer filter on the right. I still have several of the older filters, and for me- I am planning to use them in the cars I have that take that filter. I will also continue to...

Amsoil EA Filters 2022 vs 2024

I agree with you that the notion of "seal" is very weak. Also- that tightness is a poor descriptor of leakage probability, regardless if true. My only intent is to show that the design changes between these years increased the likelihood and quantity of bypassed oil. The older spring has reliefs...

Amsoil EA Filters 2022 vs 2024

The smooth spring one has much less leakage- and fits tightly in the filter. The wavy one is not flat or square and fits loosely in the filter. If you push on the smooth one like it would be as installed it seals better, the wavy one distorts more and seals less.

Amsoil EA Filters 2022 vs 2024

I am going to keep and use the remaining EA15k13’s- even though these do not have the internal bypass they used to have- this looks pretty good to me compared to more recent filters

Amsoil EA Filters 2022 vs 2024

Does anyone know when these moved to the Fram manufacturing line? I purchased a case of EA15k13 (Fram 7317) in 2022, and a single EA15k20 in 2025 for a different application. Having 5 remaining EA15k13 filter from 2022, I cut open one of them to compare with the EA15k20 from 2025- there are a...

    BMW 0W-12

There is definitely some FUD out there about running heavier weight oil than the sticker under the hood calls for(0W-12). The owners manual covers two engines, and lists the required specifications in one table. They confusingly state both LL01FE and the LL22FE++ 0W-12 as approved, but the...

    BMW 0W-12

Thanks for your reply. I've been reading on this topic since March and have been lurking for years. I'm not sure I've seen anyone actually share a detailed analysis of the 0w-12 factory oil fill or close some of the other loose ends on the B58TU2 threads and LL22FE threads. A lot of the comments...

    BMW 0W-12

We just brought home a 2025 X5 with the B58TU2 and 0W12 in the case. I think I’ve read all of the relevant threads, and I don’t feel comfortable running 0w12 beyond about 1K mile break-in. I purchased LL17 0w-20 based on the 2024 owners manual before we got the car, but in our 2025- the 0W20...
