A little ‘light’ discussion here on the 2nd video you referenced.

Just checked wife’s duralast platinum and it’s made in Mexico which google says its clarios. Actually have a ac delco gold in my truck not an everstart which appears to be clarios as well. Not that it matters now, but what’s the rep of clarios?
Nice info! Just put everstarts in two of our vehicles so good info to know about regional manufacturers. Do you have any info on duralast from AutoZone? Somewhat recently put one of those in our other vehicle
Ah, I only clicked on the link from your reply to mine. There’s definitely some deposits there, but seems pretty clean to me. I wouldn’t think that amount of deposit would cause any issues, but I’m still pretty new to this stuff. The ‘factory clean’ claim/performance of VRP is great (and I’ll be...
Read a few posts from the link but not all 207 pages, lol, so may have missed some pertinent info. He was running 13-18k OCI with HPL. Maybe that was too far in his case? Just speculating.
Just ordered some kits from @Pablo myself. Oil analyzers has a good rep here and the non-postage paid kits seem like the best deal around. Will be my first UOAs and quite interested in the results as I look to possibly extend OCIs
@BrendanC has several C&Ps of CQPs using HPL PCMO with 12k mile OCIs and they all have looked great. He’s mentioned before he would be comfortable running them quite a bit further.
I’m unaware of such with folks using 30 and 40 weight oils, and I’m in a bunch of 3.0 groups/forums.
Note: I had to google oil cavitation so I’m no expert
Yeah, OEM mileage would be the absolute max I’d take any OTS oil (though I personally stick to 4-5K) so that attribute doesn’t factor between these oils for me.
ETA: hoping to start extending my OCI with HPL/Amsoil in my truck and wife’s telluride but will need to run some UOAs before I do...
Also keep in mind with oils like Amsoil and HPL the upfront cost is negated with the extended drain interval capability, if appropriate for one’s specific use case
I use currently ESP 0w-30 in my wife’s telluride and happy with that choice as the oil reeks of fuel and believe the higher HTHS helps here. I have some HPL premium+ as I was hoping to extend OCI from 5k to 7500, but not so sure that’s a wise move. Need to run a UOA and see what the dilution is...
