    BMW 135i oil issue

Interesting info, would the CPO warranty cover any future issues caused by the deposit buildup? I'm guessing issues with DI technology are mainly limited to FI, since I haven't really heard about any problems with Lexus DI for example.

    BMW N54 Twin Turbo

Thanks for all the input guys. My car is certified pre-owned so I do feel somewhat at ease. I called my salesman today and he's going to check into the oil cooler issue for me. My understanding from what I've gathered so far is since I have the sport package, it should be included. The Dinan...

    BMW N54 Twin Turbo

Has anybody tried RTS 5W-40 in these motors? I just purchased an '07 335i and after reading through BITOG, I wish I had done a little more research beforehand! It's a 12/06 production Step w/ the sports package, but no oil cooler. I wish I had known about this sooner, as I would've lobbied for...

    Shell Rotella T synthetic 5w-40

I read a post in which someone described RTS as "cushioning" the motor and thought that was so accurate, in an odd way! When I switced to it, my motor seemed to run smoother and quieter, like RTS had a "cushioning" effect on it.

    2005 STi Rotella@8100m LESS wear than M1@2600m

Awesome oil report! What kind of mods do you have? Another great thing besides how robust RTS is, it looks like it really cut down on your oil consumption. From 1/2-1 quart every 3K miles to only a quart for 8K is a huge improvement! I just started using RTS in my WRX and it's already telling...

    Old/ new Rotella syn?

Does anyone know when quart bottles of the new CJ-4/SM RTS will be available? I've seen quarts at Walmart but only the older CI-4 formulation like what the OP has. My car takes 5 quarts and it would be nice to find matching little buddies for my gallon containers, lol.

Rotella T or Mobil 1 TDT (5W-40) for my 2002 WRX?

Yes, it's a turbo model. How is the M1 TDT better suited for my car? Thanks.

Rotella T or Mobil 1 TDT (5W-40) for my 2002 WRX?

Hi everyone, I'm looking for some feedback on which oil to go with for my next oil change. I've been using a mix of M1 10W-30 and some 15W-50 EP with good UOA results, but feel like maybe I can do a little better. Recently, my car was down a quart and I didn't want to drive around like that so...

    Can 9007 be Improved?

I'm not too crazy about the 9007s either, especially the nearly useless high beams. The low beams are so so. Lots of people run light harnesses with good results, that's the way to go if you want to improve the 9007s.

    ~$30k Performance Sedan Reccomandations

A Subaru Legacy GT might be worth a look. Excluding the pricey Spec B, a well-equipped 2007 LGT can be had for well under $30K. Although WRXs/STIs have proven to be very reliable, the LGT would probably be a better fit for you considering your other choices.

    Diagnosing a clogged radiator

It looked like deposits and rust/corrosion were clogging up mine. I looked inside the filler neck and radiator hose tubes and there was quite a bit of gunk in there. Like I said, my cooling system was neglected. Probably 2 coolant changes in 20 years plus adding stop leak for a leaky radiator...

    Diagnosing a clogged radiator

MaximaGuy- My mom's Maxima is an '87. Strangely enough, I switched it over to Dex-Cool several years ago and found out later that there have been some issues associated with its use. I don't mean to alarm you since you just put it in, but try a google search and there's lots of stuff that...

    Diagnosing a clogged radiator

An earlier poster mentioned using an infrared thermometer to diagnose a clogged radiator and that's the way to go. I ran into the same problem in my mom's Maxima a few days ago and the infrared thermometer showed temperature differences of 70-80 degrees along the surface of the radiator. I had...

    GE Night Hawk

The GE Nighthawks are supposed to be on par with the Philips Vision Plus which is a well-respected bulb. Either one should be a noticeable upgrade from the Xtravisions, which I've found are like stock bulbs. I'm not a fan of the coated bulbs either, they're more for looks than actual performance.

    Purolator Pure One

Could it be because of the unorthodox filter design of those cars? I've never seen such an unusual looking air filter. I too was surprised at not finding it at Pep Boys and Purolator is all I use on our cars. In my other application the Premium Plus filter is also lightly oiled.

Toyota Corolla High Cold Idle Speed Question

ChiTDI, That was a helpful link, thanks. I didn't know it was a common thing with late-model Toyotas. I too will put my faith in the engineers at Toyota while cursing the EPA!

Toyota Corolla High Cold Idle Speed Question

Thanks Bill, I feel much better now. I was planning on doing a UOA for the same reason. It's just a little disconcerting to hear/feel that little motor churning so fast just after startup!
