Toyota Corolla Determining Proper Transmission Fluid Level

I bought the torque pro app, but it won't connect to the Fixd OBD2 device. It's likely set to only work with the Fixd app, so I'll purchase a decent OBD2 scanner that I know is made to function with the torque app. In the meantime I took my car out, and stopped after 15 minutes of stop and go...

Toyota Corolla Determining Proper Transmission Fluid Level

I have a Fixd OBD2 reader I bought back in 2021. Just downloaded the Torque app. Will see if it will interface with the reader. If not I'll simply go online and buy a universal OBD2 reader that will interface. I am wondering though. After driving it, and parking it, am I still supposed to run...

Toyota Corolla Determining Proper Transmission Fluid Level

Hi. Yes, the level of fluid an change significantly with just a little temp variation. That said, do you know if the 2012 Corolla LE has a temp sensor for the trans fluid? I've no problem getting a relatively inexpensive scan tool, if it has a transmission fluid temp function on it. Beyond...

Toyota Corolla Determining Proper Transmission Fluid Level

I'm just going to drive it around, and read the transmission fluid level as best I can, as I've no way to check the transmission fluid temp.

Toyota Corolla Determining Proper Transmission Fluid Level

Read my prior post. I said that I have no way to check the temperature of the transmission fluid. Please, read a reply before you reply.

Toyota Corolla Determining Proper Transmission Fluid Level

I assume the temp is that of the trans fluid? I'm currently using a fixd obd2 tool with blue tooth that connects to their app on my phone, and it only has an option for reading coolant temperate. Is there an inexpensive scanner tool that can also read transmission fluid temp? Does the 2012...

Toyota Corolla Determining Proper Transmission Fluid Level

Well, I let it idle, went through the gears, and it was at the high cold mark. Maybe that's where it should be if you start it from cold, and even it idles 15 minutes it doesn't expand much. I don't know. I will need to change it soon anyhow, as I am on change 6 of 10 to fully flush the system...

Toyota Corolla Determining Proper Transmission Fluid Level

The Haynes manual doesn't go into that much detail. It simply says to fill it slowly, constantly checking while it is in idle, then to shift through the gears when at the high cold mark. Beyond that it doesn't say. Am wondering if I should drive it, park, switch through the gears, and then...

Toyota Corolla Determining Proper Transmission Fluid Level

I don't have the original owners manual, but I do have the Haynes Manual. I will check it to see if the procedure is in there, and let you know.

Toyota Corolla Determining Proper Transmission Fluid Level

Well, I have a scan tool that tells me the engine temp. Not sure if that's supposed to be my guide. Kinda don't think that reflect the transmission fluid temp.

Toyota Corolla Determining Proper Transmission Fluid Level

Hello. I drive a 2012 Toyota Corolla LE. I'm having some difficulty sussing out the correct level for my transmission fluid. I've read online that you want to fill it, and check the level when the car is warm, not hot. Meaning you start it, and let it idle for 5-10 minutes. Others say...

Few ounces of motor oil in transmission - HELP

The dipstick port where the dipstick slides into, which is where you put the transmission fluid in using a small funnel ;)

Few ounces of motor oil in transmission - HELP

Thanks. I think it will be fine, as I poured a gallon of atf in with the drain pan plug off. Will be changing the trans filter also, and removing, and cleaning the drain pan. There might be some oil left in there, but so little as to be negligible I think.

Few ounces of motor oil in transmission - HELP

Thanks. I got concerned because I read online about how I needed to get it towed, and flushed if this happened, as the oil would penetrate the discs, over heat, and thrash the trans.

Few ounces of motor oil in transmission - HELP

Yes. There's an Oreily Auto parts store right down the street, so I just hopped on my motorcycle, and picked up a couple gallons.

Few ounces of motor oil in transmission - HELP

It's called "Called Global Multi Vehicle Transmission Fluid." Suitable for use in Dexron VI, Mercon LV, Mercon V, ATF+4 and most foreign transmission. On the back it gives vehicle makes it is compatible with. Toyota, and Lexus are on the list. Not using this fluid in the car, nor will I start...

Few ounces of motor oil in transmission - HELP

The fellow at the store looked it up, and said it works in my car. Also works for toyota brands on the bottle. That said I don't think there will be much of it left once it drips for a few days, and put in a new filter. Certainly better then having oil in there.

Few ounces of motor oil in transmission - HELP

I think it will be fine, though I went a little over board maybe. Now my only concern is what little residual cheap ATF fluid from the flush is left in there mixing with the good OEM stuff once I am done :/
