Ecoboost 3.5 Oil filter every other oil change

His original statement was correct. based on Walmart prices. it would save about $2 per oil change

Ecoboost 3.5 Oil filter every other oil change

I guess I more so should have asked if what makes engines like these harder on their oil applies to the oil filter too, and that one titled "does a di engine dictate an oil filter change every oci?" is what i'm looking for

Ecoboost 3.5 Oil filter every other oil change

that's what the cost different might be, not the cost of the filter haha

Ecoboost 3.5 Oil filter every other oil change

I remember those and actually have a pureone laying around from my own vehicle from years ago, might cut it open one day

Ecoboost 3.5 Oil filter every other oil change

It's a rhetorical question that could have a practical purpose about possible ways to better use what's available, this being a forum dedicated to motor oil, that's what BITOG is all about. We are arguably enthusiast on a very narrow topic, I could apply the knowledge to other applications too...

Ecoboost 3.5 Oil filter every other oil change

Hey everyone, in my spare time I was thinking about a neighbors 2011 Lincoln MKT (ford flex), with a 3.5 EcoBoost engine. I know people just change the oil in those at 5k miles, because of fuel dilution at the very least, but what about the oil filter? Could someone use a Fram endurance oil...

Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5w30 2006 Range rover 6,000 OCI

It doesn't fool me, it just leads me on a goose chase across the internet to understand what sort of fluid they were specifying exactly, and that's how I came across bitog in the first place. The hard part is deciding to take the plunge with the really boutique providers of fluids, because they...

Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5w30 2006 Range rover 6,000 OCI

That Quaker State 5w40 is the oil I have in mind to try. I like porsche A40. What I think I will do is test the next oil change sample, where there was much less towing and it hasn't gotten close to 0 degrees yet, and see the wear metals. If they are still high, I will try 5w-40. I would like to...

    Low Kinematic high hths?

Do you know what the shear rate of the timing chain would be? Could this be a place of lower shear rates?

    Low Kinematic high hths?

all of the points in this thread really still leave me wondering why oils like Mobil 1 racing oil is made that way, their 0w50 seems like it could have just been a 0w-40 with less VII's. Is it possible it is just to comfort those thinking they need thicker? Is that perhaps the goal of the OEM's...

    Low Kinematic high hths?

That's what I'm thinking, but that is also what leads me to ask why the major manufactures don't approach it like that either.

    Low Kinematic high hths?

Very interesting information about a range of things. Is there a particular load/rpm range you'd say those shear rate estimates pertain to?

    Low Kinematic high hths?

Hello all, I've always thought about this but I do not think any forum post discuss this exact thing. I see how a lot of modern oils shear a little for improved mpg and still acceptable wear protection, and often have a little lower hths, coupled with a high viscosity index for their SAE...

Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5w30 2006 Range rover 6,000 OCI

Their exact oil spec for areas outside of NA is WSS - M2C913-B, which is tough to cross reference, probably due to age, but I believe correlates roughly with ACEA A1, and besides that for alternatives they say API SL and SM are acceptable, as well as ACEA a1/a3. For north America, and what is in...

Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5w30 2006 Range rover 6,000 OCI

It seems like I should do an old school engine health check up with an oil pressure guage, compression check, etc.

haha, I actually forgot about that name for it, that's what they use on the range rover forum

What about the TBN? Part of my reason for doing the UOA actually, was to see if the oil could go the recommended change interval, which is 7,500 miles. It doesn't spec any kind of LongLife synthetic engine oil, so I figured any decent oil should be able to reach it. I've always wanted to think...

Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5w30 2006 Range rover 6,000 OCI

I had to look into it myself because it gets a little confusing, but HSE is a trim model at least on "The" range rover, which is what you linked to and what I have. It's designation is L322. The Range Rover is the highest level in the Range Rover product line, and all of the other ones have...

Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5w30 2006 Range rover 6,000 OCI

The key is to get a model year that uses drivetrain components that have been around awhile to iron out issues. The aj-v8 came out in 1996, and the 4.4 model didn't add much new tech, besides VVT I think. I do still have occasional interior luxury accessory issues, but the deepest work I think...

Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5w30 2006 Range rover 6,000 OCI

If you mean HSE that's just high standard equipment, and their way of saying.....well they just put that on their luxury models, I guess. If my rings do wear and reduce my compression, maybe I'll be able to start using lower octane fuel at least!
