Oops! - ran non 508 spec oil in my 2019 VW Jetta

Nah. Just mistakenly responded and couldn't figure out how to delete my post when I saw the date. That's why there's no verbiage on my post.

Sig 365 - always prove your weapon

Couldn't agree more. I got a Glock 43 when they first came out and was so excited. Everything about that gun was fantastic...until I shot it! Absolutely hated it! Recoil beat up my trigger finger. Traded it for a Shield with a friend. He hated the Shield and loved the 43 so it was a win.

GDI Engine Owners - What Oil ?

100% right. I can never understand why people get upset by others asking questions about oil on an oil forum?!?!? If it upsets you, just ignore it.

    New to us!

Had a 2017 Explorer patrol car. Bigger motor but the thing was bullet-proof (excuse the pun). My patrol beat was a rough/rural area and I beat the heck out of it. Got it was 32 miles on the ODO and turned it in with 110,000 in 2020. Only thing ever replaced was a radiator and alternator. Great car!

    Accident tonight

Sometimes. Not all cars are disabled after a crash.

    Accident tonight

Anecdotal evidence but the past 5 years I worked as a State Trooper before retirement I worked average of 20 vehicle crashes per week. Being conservative, I'd say 30%(ish) were no insurance and/or hit and run which was generally due to no insurance.

wife drove 08 Sienna with low oil for 2 days, with loud tapping

Havoline. Started using on wife's Kia which typically uses a quart every 1000-1500 miles. 500 miles into most recent oil change with no oil loss. Coincidence? Maybe...but I'll take it

What kind of oil do you use?

I started using Havoline on my wife's Kia Soul which has/had some oil burning issues. Was going through about a quart every 1000-1500 miles. 500 miles into most recent oil change and no oil lost.

    My poor truck

This happens more often than you might think. Basically comes down to a manning issue and knowing what the police agency and legal system in the area will accept. I stopped many people without valid insurance, license, reg. Sometimes just one violation, sometimes all. It comes down to a...

    My poor truck

Ha! Oh, I can assure you I raised my voice often. But you are right. Times have changed and not for the better. When I was given the opportunity to retire early I took it.

    My poor truck

Can tell you what would happen when I was a Trooper. At fault driver would get loaded up with as many cites as I could dream up. Reg, insurance, license, no wind on the windshield, no gloves in the glove box, failure to top off blinker fluid. Vehicle would be towed and stored. Release from...

Owner of a Ram TRX decides they've had enough of Burning Man, leaves with camper.

Its more like cement. Yes, there is sand but it's not like what you see on tv with Sahara dunes. It's so dry that the ground can't absorb it and the top layer of sand turns to mud and muck. The NV desert ground is composed of a compound called caliche. Hard as can be so the water just pools...

Owner of a Ram TRX decides they've had enough of Burning Man, leaves with camper.

Yes. But 1/2" rain in the desert is torrential! Ground doesn't absorb it and it has nowhere to go. Used to live in the NV desert...1/2" is like doomsday!

2020 Kia Soul x-line 2.0. Out: Pennzoil Black label 5w-20 and OEM filter In: Havoline Pro-DS 5w-20 and OEM filter. 15,000 miles on the ODO with a 3,000 mile OCI. I keep all my vehicles at a short OCI...3-5,000 miles. Always have, always will. Heard all the "your dumb" and "you're wasting...

when there is no vw 508…

Does anyone know if this is actually "a thing"? I have a couple of vehicles that "use oil" and I never go below 1/2. I'd love to know if this is a thing as it would really put my mind at ease.
