I knew it!! All new music is the same.

Check out this guy's position -- it's what I've been saying for years -- actual analysis shows that today's music is....not original and pretty much the same. Discussion?

    Bitcoin...Warren Buffett's take

Despite many making a lot of money on Bitcoin and other crypto currencies, I have to say I agree with his position. Warren Buffett: “If you said... for a 1% interest in all the farmland in the United States, pay our group $25B, I'll write you a check this afternoon. For $25B, I now own 1% of...

Second (probable) total in less than 6 weeks!

Second kid. Second beater. Second (probable) total in less than 6 weeks. They're NOT going to be driving the Acura, THAT's for sure. They're going to have to drive the battered CRV no matter what. And no driving when there's 1 flake of snow. Maybe not even when it rains. Too bad kids you...

Spool valve & dirty engine woes

So after the eldest kid totalled the 06 Ridgeline (that would have gone 400k easy ) we picked up an 05 CRV. At 212k it drives super nice, almost new. Had it inspected for purchase, a few creaks in the suspension but otherwise good except they said it was probably neglected in the oil...

    Opinions: 2012 Mazda 3

So one kid totalled the oldie-but-goodie 2006 Honda Ridgeline [that had lots of new parts and was gonna go 300k+] Fortunately with today's market, we should break even and perhaps make an overall profit, even considering labor for some of the work. ----- Under consideration for...

    Blackstone and USPS slow delivery

Got a Blackstone info email today, had a link to here. Short version: Apparently the slow delivery of samples was caused by the USPS. Apparently BS had to take it to the USPS in DC to get it fixed. If you have old sample kits, use this form to order the updated address labels etc.

    Shades of online forums...

🤣 Q: How many people does it take to change a light bulb in a Facebook group? 1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed. 14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently. 7 to caution about the...

Came across this and actually LOL'd

Dave was bragging to his boss one day, "You know, I know everyone there is to know. Just name someone, anyone, and I know them." Tired of his boasting, his boss called his bluff, "OK, Dave, how about Tom Cruise?" "No dramas boss, Tom and I are old friends, and I can prove it." So, Dave and his...

    Short term lease

We've read about lease swapping or taking over a lease towards the end of the term. There's Turo, where you can rent by the day. Wondering if anyone is aware of a company or service where you can enter into a 3 month lease? We may have a use for a short term lease of this nature. Thanks for...

    8/80 Federal Emissions Warranty

OK so ... 2018 Ford Flex with about 53,000 miles. So clearly under 8 years and 80,000 miles. Check engine light, code is showing a bad O2 sensor. The pages I've seen, including Ford's own website, indicate that the Federal 8/80 Emissions Warranty specifically covers sensors required for...

Youtube videos play for a few seconds then blank screen?

So just as in the title. I can skip forward a minute or many minutes, it will play again for a few seconds then quite and say "an error occurred". Some videos play through with no problems, others won't play at all and most act as stated above. Mac running Catalina. Up until a couple weeks...

    Honda Passport reliability

Looking at the possibility of a new Passport in the next few months. Pilot also, although don't need the 3rd row and prefer more ground clearance. The 3.5 is a proven bulletproof engine, so no worries there; but what's the take on the reliability of the 9-speed auto? This would also be AWD so...

The Ten Commandments (of car buying)

I've found this guy, Steve Lehto, to be very well informed and an advocate for good. His videos are very informative and I thought to bring this one to the site. Usually interesting, sometimes funny and others a little dry...but good stuff.

    2018 Flex...warranty work at 46k?!?!

Was getting a little popcorn from the front right, turned out to be the whole hub assembly needed to be replaced....on both sides. While they were underneath they checked the PTU at my request...guess what - it's toast at only 46000 miles! "Lifetime" of the unit I guess! We got this vehicle...

    2012 VW Jetta SE reliability

Wanted to check with those more familiar with VW.... Considering purchase of a manual 5 speed, 2.5L 5 cylinder with 91k miles. Waiting on the Carfax from dealer before I go check it out in person. I know that the 2.5 is a reliable unit; wondering about the rest of the car. Thanks in advance...

Mixing oils - what viscosity do you get?

So it's been asked numerous times here, what viscosity do you end up with when you mix oils of different viscosities? Well to help answer this question, a 50/50 sample was sent to Blackstone. Here's the report: I think Blackstone is in error, the resulting viscosity of 11.74 doesn't read...
