Dodge 5.2/5.9 o-ring in rear main kit?

Some of these rear main kits include a separate, small black o-ring. Anyone know what it's supposed to be for? It does not appear to fit the rear bearing cap/oil pump interface or anywhere else I can find. One search result called it a shifter shaft o-ring, which doesn't make much sense...

    Two-piece rear main seals

This is a Dodge 318 but obviously applicable to the 350, Jeep 4.0 etc Do you recommend "offsetting" the seal so the split is not at the seam of the bearing cap? I was always told to do this, but then do you worry about nicking it as one side of the seal must travel into the upper half without...

Alternatives for Toyota rubber plug - parking brake adjustment

2015 Highlander -- rubber plugs for the rear WMS to access parking brake adjustment. Looks like OEM is 47491-22020 Is anyone aware of anything equivalent from a more accessible source like O'Reilly or AutoZone etc? @The Critic

    Diesel in gasser Gator 825i

I didn't do it but this Gator was filled with diesel and I believe they tried to start it. Looks like the tank is under driver seat and I think it'll be easy to remove and drain. Other thoughts? Should I pull plugs and maybe crank it a bit to blow out cylinders?

    Recommend 1/4" torque wrench

I'd like to replace my current 1/4" inch-lb tw. Presently I have a CDI 1501MRPH, and I need something still in the range of 20-150 in lbs. If it went lower than 20 or higher than 150, great. Complaints: coarse tooth and I ALWAYS hit the limp, loose reversing switch in use. So what I'd...

    Mayhew warranty - good

I've had a set of Mayhew Dominator pry bars for awhile -- possibly ~20 years. About a decade ago I bent the 17" straight version. I was definitely abusing it then and just used it as it was. The bending of the main shaft did not involve the tip at all -- the tip was out in space and touching...

    NV4500 installation 2nd Gen Ram

I got this out "ok" but we all know stabbing a manual back in is 10x more difficult. I found the shifter housing/top cap wants to hit the body as you pull the trans back. I tried elevating the front of the motor (CTD) but that didn't seem to help much. Maybe I just didn't go high enough...

    NV4500 Dodge shifter removal

The last time I did a similar transmission (NV3500) I remember the shifter knob threads being incredibly tight. Today's NV4500 was no different. I went digging for a strap wrench and stumbled upon my "tourniquet" oil filter wrench. Still new, never used. I didn't figure it would work but...

Rear view mirror takes some glass with it - GMT800

2006 Silverado rear view mirror fell off but took some glass, too. Not adhesive but glass. Searching the web, this is not entirely unheard of on various makes. I found mention of Chevy, Ford and Subaru on various forums. The remedy was never clear. I'd prefer to try to fix it and leaning...

    Pentastar upper intake support brackets

Just did the oil cooler/filter housing on an '11 Grand Cherokee w 3.6. It had been done previously once already, looked like maybe OEM based on the Hengst cap. Anyway the previous guy was a bit of a hack, lots of little details overlooked. When it came to me these brackets were not connected...

    A/C compressor Schrader ‐- '95 Grand Cherokee

'95 Grand Cherokee with 5.2 I pulled the compressor core because it looked like it had certainly been leaking. I promptly lost it and canNOT find it (to reference) no matter how I try. I tried the three following cores and only the smallest tire-valve-style comes close, but it won't seat/stop...

Reverse bleeding ‐‐ depress pedal or no?

When reverse bleeding with something like a Phoenix gun, a couple YT warriors say you've gotta lock the brake pedal down while bleeding. This doesn't entirely track with me, and in reading Phoenix's own instructions I never saw mention of such. If certain mc's have unique valving, ok...

Used a low end MIG machine

I was teaching an acquaintance some welding basics and he had previously purchased a Chicago Electric 170A wire feed. He admitted it was an impulse buy and had been sitting NIB for months. He said he paid $200, and indeed, it's still $200...

    Bleeding GMT400 brakes

I've had a flurry of topics regarding GMT400 brakes because one just kicked my behind, but I think it wouldn't hurt to have a thread specifically about bleeding  practices these systems. If it matters, the later years like '98/9. I at least have a few questions: 1) when you activate the ABS...

    14b drum brake problems, GMT400

I recently put new Centric riveted shoes and new hardware on a semi-float 14b in a '98 K2500. This is slide-on drums. Left side shown here: When adjusting the brakes with lugnuts tightened down, the shoes seem to grab well before you can get proper adjustment. I noticed I can actually remove...

    Speedibleed and GMT400

I've got the C200 adapter from Speedibleed, but in thinking about it I have some reservations. Specifically, you're going to start with air in those two blue tubes. You can't really purge it without a check valve at the end of each tube OR you could try to leave it flowing as you cram it down...

    Champion 41365T

Good thing this is made in the USA! We don't want any of that offshore junk -- even Jalopnik says so ;) If the pleats become clogged and the bypass valve fails, this is the failsafe - it's just double redundancy I'm so glad we're not embarrassing ourselves with our US production efforts...

    Louvers, holes and "slits"?

Recent threads have me interested in how the ID tube is stamped in filters. I happened to look at this TL24651 -- an inexpensive Purolator I often use on Ford modulars (and allegedly exactly the same as the red cans). I don't believe these are a louver per se because they're not a single piece...

    Pliers for wire snap rings

I thought I was pretty well-tooled and I have a solid selection of snap ring pliers, but this one on a GMT800 CAD gave me considerable trouble. Wondering what you guys use here? Standard "duckbill" pliers don't really work. I think maybe I need them with the dimple in the jaws and I have...

    440-T4 missing bolt

1989 Electra Park Avenue with 3.8. While cleaning it up I noticed this missing bolt hole which seems to allow access to the transmission case. I'll determine the thread pitch and find something to occupy the hole, but I guess my question is if this does go into the transmission itself, or is...
