What small business pays for oil

I frequent a small town auto parts store because it's convenient and the owner is extremely resourceful at keeping my Citroens and Ladas going. Anyway, I was talking to him about motor oil. He said he pays $14.50 a gallon for 15-40 Rotella and obviously cannot compete with the Wal-Mart and TSC...

    New TourX

After 3 years and 100k of trouble free Verano driving I got hit by a minivan and had to buy a new car. We ended up with a 2019 Buick Regal TourX Essence with sunroof. So far, it's quite an amazing car compared to what I've had previously rides amazing and is very comfortable.

    Buying based on service

Anybody here find themselves buying their oil/parts etc. because of the service they receive and not necessarily the absolute best price? I live in a rural area and the local store is staffed primarily by the owner and he provides excellent service. It extends to the point that he is helping me...

Took a drive into Canada for Krown Rust Proofing

Lets see if I can make this work. I took a drive into Sarnia today and got my 600 mile '14 Buick Verano rustproofed. Also picked up a spray can of the rustproofing agent as well as some stuff they claim can easily clean off salt. http://s1028.photobucket.com/user/ben_bo...rt=3&page=1

Bought a '14 Buick Verano today

My wife totaled her beater Saturn Wednesday and I have to say that I'm tired of daily drivers that are on the verge of disaster at all times so today I bought a new car. I went to a friend of mine who works at GM dealer and they had a new '14 Verano in the showroom that they hadn't yet sold. I...

    Picture of current oil changes

I was walking out of the store today and figured it would be fun to snap this pic. You are looking at oil changes for a Saturn L300, GMC Canyon, and a '13 Impala.

observations of rural auto parts stores and oil

I went to the Sno Drift rally this weekend in the northern lower peninsula of Michigan and in the process got a chance to visit several auto parts stores. What I found refreshing about going up there is that almost every small town had a an auto parts store that was an independently owned affair...

    The Rise of Wolf's Head?

I live in a rural Michigan locale and it seems that in the past while multiple stores and shops are starting to use/stock this oil. My grandpa had used it in the past with success. I'm just wondering if this is a local phenomena or is it happening elsewhere? It seems many indy parts stores and...

a random question for any ThinkPad owners

I am a college student and I have a ThinkPad. I have owned a few in my time and I really like them. However, you wouldn't believe all the people who act like they are computer experts who think that my ThinkPad sucks because either 1. "Lenovo? Is that some off-brand?" or 2. "You can't get it in...

    Schneider oil

A friend of mine drives truck for Schneider and gave me a gallon of their 15-40 oil. It is a very nondescript plastic jug with a label that states that it is not to be used in gas powered engines. The only vehicle of mine that I would consider running it in would be my Citroen 2CV which has no...

    mechanic oil change products

In my time around different shops I've always paid attention to what the little repair shops around here use for filters and oil. In our area the predominant parts chain is Auto Value and many of the shops around here use theif filters (Purolator rebadged) and oil (Ashland made) for their...

    '80 Chevette starting issue

I have an '80 Chevette I use as a driver right around here, mostly for insurance reasons. Yesterday, and again today, it would not crank over with the key and all lights worked. Both times I was able to push start it and go on my way. After both incidents it would crank over just fine with the...

    frame replacement

I thought some of you might get a kick out of this. My '86 Citroen 2CVs frame began to collapse from rot and I'm having it repaired in New Jersey by a 2CV specialist and he's going to replace it with a brand new galvanized frame. Here's some pics of the progress so far...
