Aftermarket Filters compared to AC Delco PF63 Filter

In light of the latest revision of the PF63, 1999 version: 2023 version: 2024 version: I thought I'd start a thread where the various aftermarket equivalents can be posted. On my 2017 Silverado 2500HD w/ a 6 L, I had been using a WIX 57045 . Now that I have a 2024 w/ the 6.6 L gasser, it...

AC Delco Air Filters A3218C vs A1618C vs A3181C

I have found the second filter mentioned here thru searching (its used on the 6.6 Dmax equippped pickups) but nothing on the first. The two filters are listed on the GM Parts page as fitting my 2017 2500HD gasser. Now looking at the owners manual it lists a A3181C 'Professional' filter (as per...

AC Delco A348C Superceded by A348CA

I went to the dealer to get a new air filter for my 86 Monte Carlo SS (I've had it since new). I had a NAPA filter on it, but realized what they sold me was too tall (lid wouldn't seal). When I gave the dealer parts person the AC PN, they had to look using the vehicle info. They came up w/ GM PN...

    Polaris Oil Filters

Seeing as the current oil that I have been using on my Polaris Ranger 500 EFI (NAPA 1358MP) is now being made in China I'm looking for an alternative. Are WIX filters still made in the US (the previous NAPA filter vendor) or have they been offshored as well? Does anyone know where the Polaris...

Filter Superceded No ADBV to ADBV Filter

Car in question is a '86 Monte Carlo SS w/ the L69 305 small block Chevy motor. Question about anti-drainback filters. GM/AC Delco has replaced the old standby PF25 filter (no ADBV) with the PF454 filter (ADBV). In this application is there a benefit using the new filter? WIX offers the...

Aftermarket Oil Filter for Rotax 900 ACE

Other than Fram do any of the other aftermarket oil filter companies make a filter for this motor? I have a 2018 Ski-doo MXZ Blizzard 900. While checking dootalk.com, it is mentioned that Fram does make a filter, the construction appears flimsy compared to the BRP filter.

    Oil Filter Media Question

Do the filter manufacturers use the same media across the same 'line' of filters? For example, would AC Delco spec the same 'paper' in a PF48 as in a PF63? Obviously it would be different in the Ultraguard versions (if available)

    Valvoline Synpower 5W30 Question

Just saw in the WallyMart Canada flyer that their 'every day' price for Synpower 5W30 (4.73 L jug) is $26.88 CDN ($19.76 US) . This is half their price for Mobil 1 5W30. Is the price a reflection of the quality of the oil? Or are they using it as a 'loss leader'?

    Ecore vs Non-Ecore Filter Question

Some folks pooh pooh the idea of using anything but the actual AC Delco filter. They reason if the Ecore filter is good enough for GM then it's good enough for their vehicle(s). Others do not want any plastic inside their oil filter. Well I noticed something yesterday @ Wallymart. I was surfing...

    WIX Filters (Black vs White)

I just noticed that on the O'Reilly website that they show a white w/ black lettering 57060 filter. Last year when I purchased a 57060 filter from O'Reilly, the filter was black w/ a label affixed. Has there been a change made recently w/ the 'standard' grade WIX filters?

    My 2017 Silverado 2500HD

First time since I bought the truck in Dec' that it has been clean. I've replaced the front air dam w/ a bumper valance from Boss plows. I tore the air dam off my 2000 Sierra, so I usually try to revise them. My '04 Silverado HD had a reworked bumper that eliminated the air dam altogether.

    PF48 > PF63 > PF64 Question

I've known that the PF48 (short) & PF63 (long) variants interchange. But today I found something online that puzzled me. On this cross-reference site: http://www.oilfilter-crossreference.com/convert/AC-Delco/PF48 that a PF64 is a PF48 equivalent. Can someone confirm this? Any details on this...

    Oil Filters GM LS1 Motors

I was looking @ the owners manual of my brother's 2016 Sierra 2500HD and saw that the 5.3 motor uses a PF63 (long) filter while the 6L motor uses the PF48 (long) filter. Has anyone ever got an explanatiob for this? Several years ago the LS1s in trucks used a long filter which was superceded by a...

    Castrol Edge 5W50 vs Polaris PS4 & Amsoil 0W40

Just curious as to your opinions of using Castrol Edge 5W50 (readily available) or Amsoil Formula 4-Stroke PowerSports 0W40 instead of the Polaris PS-4 5W50? I've used Castrol oils in my trucks in the past & am leaning towards it when the warranty is up on my Ranger. I read this opinion on a...

Are Oil Life System Resets Stored?

I completely understand how GM's OLS works but have a couple of questions about the DIC & resets. 1) Is the mileage/hours when the "change oil soon" notification is initially displayed on the DIC stored? 2) Is the mileage/hours of when the OLS is reset stored as well?
