Best Buy using Door Dash for deliveries

I ordered a device from Best Buy yesterday. Delivery is included. After placing the order the verification states that Door Dash will be making the delivery. I have never heard of such a thing for deliveries other than food. So am I supposed to tip this person? Of course no tipping to UPS...

Is Parts Geek on the level

I was looking up brake calipers on Parts Geek. Going over the reviews I noticed that the identical reviews were given for different brand calipers. Especially the first two reviews. Word for word exact from supposedly verifiable purchasers. Does not sound trustworthy. Anyone have experience...

I made the move back to cast iron cooking

Started cooking and frying with cast iron pans. I shelved all the teflon coated pans due to the coatings wearing off and probably getting into my body. I have seasoned up some cast iron pans and now exclusively use them. Also using butter and olive oil instead of Pam. I have been...

If you could change one thing on your daily driver what would it be?

My daily is a 17 Hyundai SantaFe. I wish I could change the programming on the transmission. In the normal mode I think it tends to lug a bit. 50 mph up a slight incline and it is running about 1,550 rpm. If I place it in the sport mode it stays in the lower gears at much higher rpm than I...

What is the safest coolant system sealant

I have a small coolant leak somewhere. I can smell it but yet to find the problem. In the meantime I would like to add some sealer into the system. Just a little and not a lot and see what happens. I have done this in years past and it worked well on other vehicles. I don't really like...

Is a piston soak best done in warm weather?

I am considering doing a piston soak this winter as I am a bit bored this time of year. Is it more effective to do in warm weather or does the temperature matter little? I'll do it when temps are generally above freezing.

Why such small gas tanks in newer cars

Why have they downsized gas tanks? A family member recently bought a 24 CRV. It has a 14 gallon gas tank. She is having to frequent the pump more often than her older car. My Tucson has about a 15 gallon tank. Why can't they have at least a 18 gallon tank where you could go for a while...

What is going on at Walmart ?

Was in the store today doing a return. Saw this behind the counter for the first time. What is happening at the return desk to warrant this? I thought about posting in the humor section but somehow I think this is serious stuff.

DeWalt 20V battery cracked open....now what

The case on this battery cracked open as the screws that hold it together failed. The internals are completely intact and unaffected. Would you feel safe using an epoxy to put the case back together? I just don't know.

AAAARRRGH.....ALMOST DUMPED OLD OIL INTO RADIATOR

Servicing my my SantaFe today I went to top off the coolant. Had the coolant reservoir open and ready to go. Found a Zerex jug and it felt like just the right amount, a few ounces. Shook it up and was ready to dump. Hovering over the fill opening at the last moment I thought I smelled...

Unexpected mileage gain using Exxon gas

I have used Top Tier gas from time to time but usually not. The last four tankfuls I have given the car only Exxon 87. I had an unexpected gain of about 2 mpg using the gas. This came in spite of cooler weather where the mileage really drops especially when mixing in short trips. So I am...

Have tire pressures trended up to improve gas mileage?

I have noticed that most all tire pressure setting on cars and suv's are at 35 psi. Looking back my old 07 SantaFe was 30 psi and the 17 SantaFe is 35. Approximately the same weight vehicle. Also 06 Hyundai Sonata is 30 and newer is 35. Is there a reason for this?

    Oil Life Monitor ??

My daughter recently purchased new a 2024 Honda CRV with a turbo engine. It currently has 6,200 miles on the factory oil. The OLM is showing 50%. Pulling the dipstick the oil is pretty nasty looking and nothing to be proud of. I cannot imagine that the car could go almost 12K before needing...

New electric vehicle taxes in Maryland

Several new laws go into effect in Maryland today. Among them is a biannual fee of $250.00 to offset road taxes not paid at the pump. Also they increased vehicle registrations by 60% to 75% depending on vehicle weight. Increases not coming at a good time. So an electric vehicle will now have...
