Airplane in-flight entertainment - the new norm?

I don't understand people who consume entertainment on flights. I just put in ear plugs, close my eyes and try to relax for the flight duration. Doing anything else is bizarre to me. I used to work during flights but I realized the ROI for this is pretty low and it points to being disorganized.

When you don't feel like DIY oil changes anymore

Both my cars have the filter on top of the engine so I use a Mityvac to extract the oil. I don't like getting under the car.

    *Investors Blog*

I'm a dividend investor so I'm quite tame. As for calls, I let SPYI or MLPI do them. Tried on my own, not fun.

Started a healthy diet, when do I start to feel better?

So the wife bought bone broth based collagen powder. Unflavored but doesn't smell too bad. Me being cheap, had bought "a complete meal" protein powder which turned out to have non-dairy creamer as the carb and fat component. Yuck, but I'm not throwing money away even if it means having to...

Has technology failed you today? List the ways and how often it happens to you.

That's what I tell my IT folks when they feel underappreciated - when things work, you are invisible. When something breaks then all the *ell breaks loose.

Has technology failed you today? List the ways and how often it happens to you.

The airmatic on my Merc has a malfunction. The code reader connects to the phone through bluetooth. The phone is connected and the app shows good connection. When I run diagnostics, the app tells me to connect to the code reader and then retry. Crazy world.

    Science experiment in cream cheese

It means that it's a good product if it can support fungi. Looks like the knife she used was covered in jam or something. What brand is it, I may start buying it.

Has technology failed you today? List the ways and how often it happens to you.

Our kettle needs to be rebooted from time to time. The same with the TV. Not a big deal, but in general my approach is to stay away from technology. I've been a CIO in a few places and know to minimize exposure to technology when it can be avoided.

It never gets any easier letting someone go

WFH has been a lifesaver for my functional area. We have had a chronic shortage of talent but after changing policy , we have been able to hire talent from all over the country. The key is to monitor key performance metrics so that W gets done.

People who trade in vehicles after 0-2 years for silly reasons. Are people really this bad with finances?

From young age people are taught to consume. So they do exactly that. It's borrowed money anyway so not a big deal in the overall picture. Live paycheck to paycheck and enjoy the spoils of life enabled with credit. After all, more than 70% of our economy is based on consumption.

I took some profit last Friday, yesterday and this morning was wondering if I have overreacted to what I expect to happen later this summer. I have some dry powder and am waiting for opportunities to show up. Things are still overpriced.

Monday morning in a community bank

I worked with banks for about 10 years and have never known a bank that was not a toxic environment to work. I can imagine how bad it is for the lowest ones on the totem pole.

Evaporative cooling in the drive thru.

They have evaporative cooling setup in Yerevan in almost every outdoor eating area. Works quite well to keep customers cool. It's not a large box like the picture here but a long tube that looks like drip irrigation. It turns on and off every 15 seconds or something like that. Here is a short...

They don't lock their bikes in Japan.

When I was green bean, I left a tip in China. The wait staff found me on the street and returned the tip. I pleaded for them to keep it but they didn't.
