Delo 400 XLE diesel oil 10w-30 in GM 3800 v6

Why beat around the bush? Just ask the dude why he's being a cheapskate. Personally, I'd run that oil. The product data sheet states this..."... fourstroke gasoline engines in which the API CK-4, API SN or API SN PLUS service category and SAE 10W-30 viscosity grade are recommended." Sounds...

Water main and sewer line insurance through "the water company"

In my city, the homeowner is responsible for the sewer and water lines, all the way from the city line under the street up to the residence. An insurance policy to help with costs of digging up the street would be a reasonable investment. Late last year I had all the drain plumbing in my house...

    Gravity brake fluid flush

One issue that can and does occur is air leakage around the bleeder nipple threads. That's why pressure bleeding is good; it doesn't care. For gravity bleeding or using speed bleeders, it may be worth the effort to remove the bleeder and wrap them with teflon tape first. Of course, the system...

    Gravity brake fluid flush

With modern ABS systems, using something like a pressurized cap over the master reservoir works well. No need for two people. The tool pays for itself with the first usage. Highly recommended. I use Motive.

    Lets talk about new vehicles

I'm in the market for a new vehicle. My Civic is fine, just want something with a hatch for hauling stuff. On a lark, while on edmunds.com, I filled out the questionnaire about "how much is your car worth," and it came back with a Carmax offer of $17k. I'm floored by this, and think it may be...

Started a healthy diet, when do I start to feel better?

The muscles run off glycogen. It's how the body replaces depleted glycogen, which can vary. There is a long thread on Bike Forums, where the advocates of the Keto diet say they are riding off their fat. This is only possible on long-slow rides, though. The body can't metabolize/convert fast...

    Refreshing an older Mountain Bike

I've been riding the white mountain bike, but yesterday, I finally finished the black road bike maintenance project, so I took that out instead, and it's like driving a sports car compared to a Yugo! It's crazy how much faster it is; my average speed jumped from 14 to 16mph. Not exactly fast...

Started a healthy diet, when do I start to feel better?

I used to ride sometimes with a cruiser club, where we would meet on Sunday morning, ride 25 miles to some destination for breakfast, then 25 miles back to the start. In my case, I rode 12 miles to the start, so all in this was a 75-mile day for me. Most of the guys in this club were over 60...

Started a healthy diet, when do I start to feel better?

During exertion efforts, your body uses glycogen stored in your muscles and liver for fuel. Your stored glycogen is sort of like fuel in your gas tank. As it's used, it's replaced by the body, using food that's ingested and absorbed into your bloodstream, and from fat and muscle fiber, which...

Are you suggesting that @Pablo may not be fueling himself adequately for high-exertion activities?

Started a healthy diet, when do I start to feel better?

I've read that eating fish three times per week is good. The Mediterranean diet is heavy on fish, and it's considered one of the better diets to follow.

Started a healthy diet, when do I start to feel better?

I'm continuing to push myself to lose weight, but it's getting much harder. I'm 75 lb down now, since February. I'm 5'9" tall, and have decided on a final goal weight of 160 lb, which means I need 15 lb more. Been riding an old mountain bike with slick tires for the street. For today, I'm...

Recommended a motorcycle oil to help with notchy shifting .

I had a bike I restored that was difficult to get into neutral. It was a restoration project, and the previous owner rode it hard. No amount of clutch adjustment helped. I wound up replacing all the clutch plates, both steel and fibers, even though they seem to measure okay per the manual...

Kirkland signature 0w-20 4.4k mi; 2025 Nissan Rogue KR15DDT, 20.1k mi - used oil analysis

I worked for Nissan, in their engineering/quality group, doing after-sales support, and never in 21 years did I ever hear anyone mention oil viscosity as a cause of engine problems. And, at least when I worked there, there was never a case, ever, of attempting to side-step a warranty issue...

Which year cutoff for Quincy Air Compressors?

I blast all the time with my old Devilbliss 80 gallon. It claims 6.5 hp, but I'm certain it's actually less.

Which year cutoff for Quincy Air Compressors?

Quincy QT-5 would likely be plenty. It's reasonably quiet, also.

Loud and annoying noise from sump/ radon pit, cause and solution

When selling our Ohio house in 2002, a radon test was performed and supposedly failed. Mitigation involved adding a ventilation system and a special sump cover. My house is the only one in the entire neighborhood with such a contraption. I would have thought that if radon was common in the...

Transmission Service 2004 Nissan Sentra - Pull Pan?

I've posted this several times previously, but when I put Maxlife in my 2006 Sentra, same transmission as discussed here, it shifted like crap. Shift flair and late shifting, particularly when cold. Use what you want, but this is my experience. With that many miles, I'd drop the pan and...

    Utility trailer @ Harbor Freight

I had one. Installed a 3/4" plywood platform and 2x4 fence. Pulled it with my 1.8L Nissan Sentra. It bounced around without a load, otherwise it did well. Hauled all kinds of stuff with that rig.
