Using Mobil 1 ESP 0w30 in all my other vehicles now, and after a short Supertech interval to flush out all the dirt and debris from the teardown, will be my new fill for this truck as well.

Had this debate myself, not so much about the price but which one would protect better in all 4 of my vehicles. In the end the 0w30 flavor won based on better availability, price, and minimal (if any) performance benefits of the 5w30.

No additives of any kind. 90% of the time it was fueled at the same Shell station along with my other vehicles which never showed a manganese spike in their used oil analysis.

The confusion about the manganese came from looking at other used oil analysis on Honda engines especially the J35 series ones. Could not find a single one where more than one or two PPM of manganese was detected.

Not super concerned about the wear metals as this is the first oil change after the factory fill, but where did the manganese come from? Did not use any fuel additives. Also, the anti-wear additives seem a bit low when compared to other VOA’s and used oil analysis on the same oil. Not sure if...

I prefer hydrogen…makes the car lighter and good for 5 additional MPG. 🤣

Just saw this relevant video. Not scientific but more for entertainment value.

Dump the full 5 quarts in my ND2 every time, no issues. As was previously mentioned, due to the shape of the oil pan, you will get a better drain by putting the rear on taller jackstands. Probably not necessary but my OCD wants as much of the old oil out as possible.

It’s not so much the “cost” as it is the “hard to find”, and I’m sure there are aftermarket alternatives that would work just as well if not better that are easier to obtain.

Manual says every 2 years or 30000 for severe service but my mileage is low so pushing it to 3 years.
