    Ten oil filters compared. Video.

Just received 4 Microgard Select MSL57356 from O'Reilly, had to order them online so wasn't able to actually look at them. I had assumed (dangerous, I know) that these were made in Vietnam likely others that were cut/examined here on BITOG. Well, turns out they are made in China. I generally...

    wrist and pocket watch Freak

Actually, I bought it for her, she sold all of her Movado watches to help. It was also our 55 anniversary and she'd never owned an actual timepiece, just fashion watches. She wears it daily, I adjust it once every 2 weeks, it gains a second or two daily, well within specifications.

And my wife, white perusing my Omega catalog, saw this and became attached, a 38mm Aqua Terra It's the first non-quartz watch she's had in many years, she just liked the colors.

    wrist and pocket watch Freak

I've been on an Omega Speedmaster kick since working for a NASA subcontractor in the late 1960's, wife bought me my first one in 1972, I've updated over the years and now the White 3861Saphire Sandwich is my only watch, ive had virtually everything from Brightening, Rolex, EWC, etc, just kept...

So are Purolator oil filters the replacement for Fram going forward? This was the Walmart isle at my nearest store.

Yup, that's where I'm going, I've got 3 extras for the foreseeable future. If we had an O'Reilly closer than 60 miles, I'd certainly go look at a Microgard Select. I get the Mobil 110a at Walmart for $11.97, the Select is about $10. Both have survived BITOG scrutiny. IMHO anything under the...

So are Purolator oil filters the replacement for Fram going forward? This was the Walmart isle at my nearest store.

I'm on the horns of a dilemma, I'd definitely prefer US made products, before the Best Brands debacle, I was very happy with most of the Champion-made filters, M1, Royal Purple, Amsoil etc. At this particular time, the current M1, Microgard and derivatives made in Vietnam and South Korea seem...

    Amsoil Signature Series & GF-7

I certainly hope not, we have 2 new Honda Civics that are starting out on Signature 0w20, anticipating that the "New improved" Signature formula continues the Amsoil tradition of excellence. I'm making the assumption (yeah, dangerous I know) that it's going to be primarily to conform to new GF-7...

Clarification on Who Makes the New Mobil 1 Filter

I remember when the Mobil 1 filters were all made by Champion, here in the US and were generally excellent, then Mann-Hummel took over and (apparently) they were made by Purolator still made here but quality was "questionable " Apparently Mobil 1 got some consumer feedback and suddenly Highline...

Clarification on Who Makes the New Mobil 1 Filter

All of the Mobil 1 M1-110A filters we use in our Hondas have been sourced in Vietnam.

    Amsoil oil filter equivalent

Currently two safe choices are the new Mobil1 and the Microgard Select, both have excellent build quality and seem to check all the boxes. Main difference is the Mobil 1 with 99%@30 microns and the Microgard at 99%@25 microns. Amsoil will apparently have a new spec built filter this fall. It...

Magnificent Seven now on Streaming Channel for the First Time (Pluto)

Absolutely one of the best, actually a remake of The Seven Samurai, (also a great film) every thing is done right, soundtrack by Elmer Bernstein is timeless, casting doesn't get much better, great lines and dialog, some really exceptional gunfight scenes. I never get tired of watching this. If...

Are your driving plans changing due to fuel costs?

We adapted to changing economics by switching to hybrids, 50 mpg makes the pill easier to swallow, Still use Toptier but less of it.

My visit to Chik Fil A

Interesting, just a bit to your north Newberry township, Pa, we had a KFC/Taco Bell Restaurant right off rt 83 North that was closed by the Health Department in January, it's had a "Temporarily Closed" flashing sign ever since. After 5 months closed in a high-volume area, I'm thinking probably...

My visit to Chik Fil A

I avoid drive-thru at almost any cost, hate eating in the car I definitely don't like being "processed" for food, especially if you want specific condiments Prices are generally at least borderline outrageous and the paper waste is ridiculous. I don't drink soda and at a minimum the...

Firestone Destination LE3: Very disappointed in wet handling

The Michelin Crossclimate II'S are uniformly excellent, the Continental LX25'S are also outstanding and possibly a bit quieter. I've had both on Honda CRV AWD and was very pleased, the one with the Michelins was traded at 38k and still had 8/32" remaining.

Mitsubishi stores get scarcer as brand cuts low performers and ‘fed up’ dealers walk away

I believe it's a lack of commitment, if they think they have a future in the US market they need to invest here and build cars here. I'm sure the tariffs are hurting them.
