    2015 Toyota Tundra- repo bid

Yep. It reminded me of my grandparent’s 2014 4Runner except it had a bed. Though I’ve always preferred the single VVTI 1GR more in terms of driving feel and ease of maintenance.

    2015 Toyota Tundra- repo bid

My work hosted a veteran charity event last year. We basically evaluated 5 vehicles for free that were in need of repairs or maintenance and a 2011 Tundra happened to be in the mix. So I got the Tundra. Consisted of brakes all around and a battery. This Tundra had the updated dual VVTI 4.0 V6 in...

    Picked up a 2003 Toyota 4Runner V6!

It’s been a long time coming, but I finally painted the hood. It’s not perfect by any means but it’s an improvement in my eyes. I sanded it down, primed it, sanded again and threw on 2 base coats along with 2 clear coats. Tomorrow I’m going to sand it again and polish any imperfections left over.

What oil are vq37 owners using?

Not a VQ37 owner, but a VQ owner non the less. When I had my Pathfinder and Xterra equipped with the VQ40 I used Mobil 1 0W40 almost exclusively. I put a combined 400k miles on them without issue. Can’t go wrong with Mobil 1 0W40 in my opinion.

    Picked up a 2003 Toyota 4Runner V6!

Removed the running boards. I think it looks better personally and I don’t have to step up/over them now. I also replaced the side marker bulbs so I’ve been using them as DRL’s. I’ll be painting the hood sometime this month. I got some paint from Spectral Paints. Got 4 cans total, 2 base coats...

    Oil for 2019 Frontier V6

I’ll copy what others have said as well. I’ve had two VQ40’s with a combined 400k miles on them. I used a steady diet of Mobil 1 0W40 in them. The VQ40 is a solid workhorse of an engine!

Has there ever been a mainstream vehicle that holds its value as well as a 5th Gen 4Runner?

2nd and 3rd gen Tacoma’s and FJ’s are pretty close in my opinion. I believe the 4th generation 4Runner and 1st generation Sequoia are the unsung heroes for someone looking to get into a body on frame Toyota SUV without breaking the bank. I recently bought a 2003 4Runner for $4k. Has all the...

    Picked up a 2003 Toyota 4Runner V6!

The new wheels are staying now. 😁 Tires are GoodYear Wrangler Workhorse A/T’s. Co-worker attempted to put the wheels on his 2026 Tacoma but they did not fit due to the lug nut design.

    Picked up a 2003 Toyota 4Runner V6!

it was short lived but the 4Runner got some new rims and tires off my co-workers Tacoma. I think they look great! Unfortunately the “boss” said no. The boss being my SO. Happy wife, happy life right?…the old aluminum rims will be back on next week.

Post a photo of your oil on dipstick (with miles)

Just over 3k miles on Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W30. My 2003 4Runner V6 is approaching 220k miles! Really hard to tell/bad picture but I promise it’s at the max line. Haven’t had to add any oil.

    Selecting a Potential "Forever" Vehicle

Sienna and Sequoia get my vote. Specifically the 2-3rd generation Sienna and 2nd generation Sequoia. I’d say 1st gen Sequoia’s but those need lower ball joints and timing belt/water pump every 100k or so maintenance wise. R51 Pathfinders 2005-2012- Early years had faulty radiators that would...

    Picked up a 2003 Toyota 4Runner V6!

Got the headlights looking a little better. I used Meguiars plastX. They came out pretty good considering I didn’t do any prep work or sanding. I did about three passes on each light. I’m debating on painting the hood next.

    Tec 582 ceramic spray wax

In my experience 582 is easier to use, but doesn’t last as long as Xpress wax does. Xpress wax was my go-to initially. Love the smell of it too.

    Picked up a 2003 Toyota 4Runner V6!

I plan to drive it till the wheels fall off as they say. I’d like a 4WD variant in the future, but my 2Runner will work for the time being!

    Picked up a 2003 Toyota 4Runner V6!

I finally replaced the drive belt. I went with a Bando unit from RockAuto. No more cold start chirps. I did it all from below as it was easier to access the belt. I also replaced two trip computer bulbs. They very commonly go out. I ordered them through Toyota. It’s nice to be able to see it...

    Modern reliable automatic transmissions

Toyota A750, A340, A760, and the Nissan RE5R05A get my vote. They’re ancient compared to new, modern transmissions of course. Bonus points for the ZF8 too.

Those with 150,000 miles or more, check in

2003 Toyota 4Runner V6 with 218k miles. Picked it up two months ago. I’m running some Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W30 in it. Unknown oil intervals. But the 1GR purrs like a kitten.

Correct. I mentioned that at the end of my first post.
