Global electric car sales topped 20 million 2025

The number of EVs for sale is at very low levels compared to even 2022. BMW I3’s up through early last year was always around 8000 nationally, now there are 60 Same for Equinox EV, much fewer new + used for sale nationally than last year. Only ones that are sort of stable are teslas and bolts...

Ticks are out of control this year - what are my options?

As stated soap of all things will get rid of ticks if you ever get rain. Makes them dry up if it gets on them

Right to Repair - Ford’s Jim Farley

Just need to remember that emulation is always legal The idea custom firmware may not be needs to be eliminated. If they want to claim high fees on access to simple software parameters, they have to accept that their firmware will never be protected and will become open source whether legal or...

USPS claiming incorrect address on Amsoil Oil Analyzers Sample Prepaid Label

Only recently, they are failing on purpose so we can break the constitution, get rid of them and replace with a privatized service that will be worse, rural delivery might move to monthly and as the uk showed one privatizated delivery vendor restructured loosing an entire cities worth of...

Right to Repair - Ford’s Jim Farley

If they want to push you cant repair it would need to be a 10/150, especially on motor/transmission/suspension/pollution controls . Sadly they probably would still go for it and the car wouldn’t be a non-repairable turd after the warranty, sort of like 70’s/80’s

Right to Repair - Ford’s Jim Farley

Except that they refuse to produce the number and type of vehicles that would require and very likely aren’t capable of doing so anyway. Per capita new car production peaked decades ago in the us. (The other graph is just for fun)

USPS claiming incorrect address on Amsoil Oil Analyzers Sample Prepaid Label

I just have the issue that the “stamp fell off” and mail taking 2-3 months. .gov wants to ruin everything they do on purpose so they can hand it off to privatized systems that if the uk is any indication will be worse than .gov trying to fail

TOYOTA possibly bringing small truck ( Corolla ) to compete with FORD Maverick in U.S..

I’m sure a 3/4’ bed is comparable to an 8’, they can’t even find their way to a 6.5’ bed on the mid size trucks like the Toyota shown.

Ticks are out of control this year - what are my options?

Home defense boundary on home tree bases and patio outlines Less pesticide but keeps ticks from being able to drop down on you Basic h (a natural compostable soap) can be sprayed in a diluted solution, especially applied near the end of rain to get rid of most grass bound insects who then...

Parents need cooling - trying to talk them out of getting a portable A/C

Those are overpriced and seem to be sort of unreliable. I remember mid pandemic people were buying the Amazon $399 minisplits for self install, gotta wonder how that worked out

    EV lots getting cleaned out.

I bought a 330 watt panel over a decade ago for $40 as a science experiment (charges a string of 6v Fla), could have bought pallets of them at that price but local laws make diy solar basically impossible . The cost of solar could be near zero but .gov harassment to ensure you overpay 10x+ is...

Talk me out of using 0w-20 in my Explorer 2.3T (specs 5w-30)

It will just make everything louder andcrattlier. Now if you short trip I’m 0F and lower, there might be an advantage if you change oil seasonally. But for any other use you gain nothing and possibly wear the engine faster. Worth noting also thick oil gets hotter faster than thin

Are your driving plans changing due to fuel costs?

It’s sometimes less convenient to use one of the cars (smaller grill, smaller cooler, etc) but I rarely camp and usually motel camp because I don’t have time anyway. It’s sort of sad to think that camping and motel camping are about the same price but it is what it is.

Are your driving plans changing due to fuel costs?

People laugh but within a week of $3.79/gal gas the price skyrocketed again. I’ve changed from driving the truck on some road trips to downsizing to fit the cobalt and now the 2000 insight (65-85mpg) Only way to do better than the Insight is an EV (or an EV modified insight) So I do some of...

Parents need cooling - trying to talk them out of getting a portable A/C

They do make cheap lightweight self installed 110vac heat pumps that just require a couple hoses through the wall. The hole is smaller and the efficiency and utility are much better. Certain states ma safety laws require millions of fire exits on non-houses. Said exit needs to fit the average...

    Lake Mead water level video

Much of the country can condemn and take your home if you can’t prove you have running water or if you refuse electric/gas connections. That might bite Cali in the arse. There are already communities that no longer have water and bets on when various other cities will loose water access.

    2008 Chevy HHR worth considering?

There was an “alternative “ solution found for that but to avoid the sawzall sounded like a lot of other work and contortionism / broken knuckles, now to see if I can find that thread.
